Blare stood in the kitchen in a trance many a memory flooding his mind of his time with Crystal Gems...more specifically his time with Garnet. The memories carrying a rosery tint left him feeling light but slightly dizzy. Something he that he certainly didn't recall feeling up until now. That last mission with Steven had him more in his head about how he felt about Garnet more than he could previously recall. Something that he both loved and was continually conflicted and frustrated by.

But, instead of focusing all his attention on the chaos that was his heart and mind. Blare chose to make a new batch of cookie cats for the freezer. There was a mutual agreement between Pearl and himself that two dozens would be made every two to three months for Steven and Amethyst.

If there was one thing that the two agreed on it was that Steven required a balance diet to grow properly. Afterall what was their assistants with his gem half if his body did not have the proper nutrition to support it.

And, much like any time Blare was alone in the house while baking or simply cooking Blare began with a shimmy and was soon dancing around the room. No prying eyes or lingering gazes demanding his acknowledgement, he could simply be himself. No expectations and no unwanted proposals of fusion, he could just dance for himself and be content with that.

A smile grew on the little gem's face with each well-placed foot and sway of his hips as he danced to his own internal beat. Bowl in hand Blare spun on his toes stirring cream and other ingredients without missing a beat. It started off spontaneous but quickly mellowed out into practiced steps as Blare's thoughts began to drift to simpler times both past and present.

The count ringing off in his head in a slow and sensual dance that could almost be visualized from his half alone. Everything was completed in a haze throughout the kitchen. A familiar yet comforting warmth filled his gem at the nostalgia of their time together. Back to a time when things felt safe and ever so loving.

Blare's eyes were unseeing, locked into the past with hooded eyes. He could practically feel her once gentle touch. The image of her crystal clear in his mind. Her bright smile and the jovial laugh as he twirled her around the room.

Offering his hand to the partner looked in the recollections of his mind, but when her hand wasn't laced between his fingers in return he finally returned to his sense. A lingering sadness overcame those memories as time raced forward before his eyes. The sensation of loss that overcame him was almost indescribable as he was seemingly forced to remember what occurred after. The warmth that he felt vanishing soon after as reality sunk in.

As if to bless him from the curse of dwelling on it any further a chorus of applause shifted his attention. Blare whipped around to see Garnet clapping with the others.

Embarrassment overtook the sinking feeling that threatened to drown his thoughts. A blush spreading like wildfire across his face at the unexpected attention. His hands shooting up to brush his hair back over his gem.

Steven was the first to comment, practically vibrating with excitement. "Blare that was amazing! Could you teach me to dance like that?" Steven asked with a sparkling gaze. If anyone else would have seen how Steven looked at him. Blare was sure they would have thought he invented the stars. Especially since Steven's endless praise had yet to stop as he gushed about how amazing his dance was.

"Blare." Garnet called out quickly gaining the sapphire's attention. If there was any room for his blush to spread, it surely had under her intense stare.

If he had a human heart, he was sure it would be working double time right now. Because not only was he giddy about the idea of her witnessing his dance. He was also terribly embarrassed by the thought as well. How much of that did she see? Was one of millions of questions swarming through Blare's head.
