A/N: This is just a taste for now. It's not main story but I still had fun writing. I'm still working on the other chapters that are in progress. The next update will be main story. No new rewritten chapters at the moment. I hope you enjoy it, and I will definitely see you guys soon with another series of updates (I'm hoping for tomorrow or sometime next week).

P.S. Included in this update is a new cover image for the story (You get to see my continued struggle drawing hands). Let me know what you think. Not sure if I'll keep it.

"You are always so curious. Why is that?"

"Heh, that's funny. I've always wondered why you're not curious."

"Th-there's just so much around us, and...we're not like any of it. Doesn't that make you want to know more?

"I...I have never thought about it that way. But there's a certain fear that you lack about the things around us that makes you foolish."

"I can see why you would say that, but we'll never be safe everywhere we go. So, why not enjoy the beauty that we find along the way?

"That curiosity is going to be the end of you. You are stubborn for not seeing that these creatures you are so interested in wait for your weakness."

"I guess we'll just have to see. Regardless of what you say this is a war that we're in, and I want to experience everything that I can before this is all over. Before we change everything forever."

He...was the most stunning being they had ever seen.

The way the being trudged forward. The deadly dance that they witnessed was both beautiful and heart wrenching. At first, he thought that the gem before him was nothing more than a monster, but the way that the gem wept over the battlefield. It was different. Because certainly one wouldn't cry if they did not care.

So, the pearl leaned forward curiosity slowly taking over reason. This was the first time he had seen another gem. At least one that was awake. And maybe just maybe this one would talk to him.

So, with his resolve steeled...he slowly followed behind the sullen warrior. He was just so strange. His form wasn't delicate, at least not in the way that their's was. He was much taller and his hair was longer and his form was comprised of various shades of black and grey, bu-but his eyes glowed ferociously with every color imaginable. Wait...

His eyes?

He...could...see his eyes narrowed into a harden glaring that seemed to bunr at the surface of his very being. That gem saw him and why wouldn't he. Like an idiot they were standing in the middle of the clearing. So lost in his observations he hadn't realized that the gem he was following stopped walking, unknowingly revealing himself.

In that moment, everything froze...the two gems staring at one another.

From this view point the young pearl could see just how injured the other was. His body was littered with various cuts of varying degrees of severity and scuffs all over. His sagging shoulders suggested a deeper level of pain, but his eyes remained sharp fixed upon him as they sized each other up.

Lea was not sure what to do, but he was sure that if he looked away... Even the twitch of his fingers felt like a subtle offense to the silence. More like a death sentence really...a silent threat to keep their wits about them.

Just as Lea grew weary at the thought of being stuck there forever. The black gem stood straighter. "Wh-what's your name?" Lea stuttered out, mentally scolding the stupid question. Regardless, to his shock the gem opened his mouth as if to respond, but only a shuddered breath escaped his lips.
