Chapter 5-Serious Steven and Blare's crush

The Crystal Gems plus their loveable gem in training Steven were currently traveling through the flow of the warp stream. "Pay attention Steven. This is going to be your first serious mission. You need to be ready." Garnet informed the boy. Not much could be said to prep him for his first official mission, but it was definitely a good start.

While the others talked and Pearl chastised Steven's playfulness. Blare couldn't help but stare at Garnet as she prepped Steven for the mission. Smiling to himself as he somewhat listened to her every word, so much so that he did not even notice that they arrived at their destination. A loud thud broking him from his trance. His eyes quickly began to look for the source of the sound.

"Steven!" Pearl yelled. Every gapped at the sight of Steven's form lying in the patch of strawberries. The four of gems quickly ran to check on him, with Pearl being the most worried over his wellbeing. "Steven are you-"

"I'm fine," Steven quickly answered sitting up. "I'm good I'm just gooey" Steven said licking his arms. It must have tasted good because he went in for another lick. Blare made a note to comeback and harvest some of the strawberries for Steven later. However, the joy of the tasty discovery was short lived when a group of butterflies flew into his eyes.

He screamed in panic, running around before falling again. Garnet walked over to him and gracefully brushed them away, "They're just butterflies Steven," She spoke, her voice calm and reassuring.

Steven laughed nervously, "Well they looked a lot bigger when they were on my eyeballs."

"Steven you're a riot," Amethyst laughed but Pearl was filled with worry.

"I'm suddenly having second thoughts about bringing Steven on this one," Pearl lamented looking at Garnet and Blare in worry.

"Shhh just look at him," Garnet pointed out as they turned to look at Steven. The pose he was striking was quite hilarious.

"There's no reason to worry. It's going to be okay. The four of us will watch Steven together." Blare added in attempt attempting to further reassure Pearl, but she only seemed to calm down slightly.

"Now let's go recover the gemstone." Garnet commanded swiftly walking off.

The rest quick to catch up to her strides through the gem battlefield. Blare glanced around shivering at the sight. As Pearl rambled about the land. There was a certain beauty to it all for sure, but Blare could only think about the battle that took place here. He even recognized some of the weapons that stuck out of the ground. Blare shook his head to rid himself of the vivid memories.

Before long the group stopped next to Garnet looking at the upside-down pyramid. "Maybe not," Garnet commented. Summoning a smaller pyramid shaped key, Garnet guided it into the empty slot opening the door in a mystical light of sparkles.

Steven giggled and raced into the structure, more than impressed and extremely excited. As everyone walked around looking over the various murals. Blare paused gazing upon the engraved image White and himself upon the wall. It was subtle, really only visible if you really paid attention. He was her shadow.

Before Blare could dwell on it any further. The ground began to quake and shake beneath their feet. Everyone turned to see Steven standing next to the now right side up pyramid at the center of the room.

"Steven, what have we told you about touching magical things." Pearl scolded as Steven looked up at her.

"Definitely always never do it." Just as Steven answered. The drop in the boy's excitement was quickly mirrored by the shift gravity as they all fell into the hole at the top of the pyramid.
