Panic began to run through my system. I stood there for what felt like forever. Paulit-ulit kong naririnig ang sinabi ni Jasper.

'If you're telling the truth, I'd want the custody of my child.'

I clutched my chest. I breathed hard. This... this wasn't him. There was no trace of the man that I love... He felt so cold... so distant... so detached. I didn't even see an ounce of mercy in his eyes as he blatantly told me that he'd take JJ away from me.

Hindi na ba talaga niya ako mahal?

Ni hindi man lang ba niya naisip na masasaktan ako sa sinabi niya?

My knees were buckling as I tried to get home. I could feel fear through my entire system... I still couldn't believe what just happened... but it did happen...

Jasper changed...

It seemed like they were all right to warn me.

"Mommy!" JJ jumped to hug me when he saw me. I hugged my baby back. "Where did you go? I missed you terribly!" he said, hugging me even tighter.

My chest began to tighten. I couldn't let Jasper take JJ from me... hindi ko naman gustong itago si JJ... If he wanted to see him, I would never stop him... but I wouldn't let him take our son away...

"Are you sad, Mommy?" he asked when he stared at my face.

I smiled and shook my head. "No. Mommy's just tired. Can you get me a glass of water?" I asked, and he quickly obliged. Nang maka-alis si JJ ay saka ko lang napansin si Addie. She was looking at me, her brow arched... and with that expression that seemed like she already had an idea about what happened...

She knew...

She knew that Jasper changed...

I wanted to ask, but I was afraid that I already knew the answer...

"How's the talk?" Addie asked.

I tried to smile. "Terrible."

She smirked. "Told you."

I looked at her. "What..." I began, but couldn't verbalize my thoughts. I took a deep breath. "Did... did something happen after I left?"

Addie looked at me, and for a second, I thought I saw something cross her eyes... I began to feel panic spread through my system. Did something so bad happen for Addie to react like this? Because I know her, and she's not someone who reacts to normal things!

"Addie—"

"You should talk to him, not me."

"But—"

"You were gone for years, Maggie. If you wanna know what happened, ask him. After all, I'm pretty sure you won't be going anywhere now."

She smiled, and then patted my head. "Well... your ex-bodyguard, ex-boyfriend, and baby daddy's apparently super rich," she said, my eyes widening. "I know! Surprising, right? That's why his records were heavily redacted—he's the son of some rich woman. That's the answer din kung bakit siya English speaking. He's some rich boy," she continued. "So, don't worry, Mags. You won't be going anywhere because I'm sure Jasper won't let you... especially now that you told him about JJ."
