"You kissed Brian first?" Elliot breathed, as he looked at his wife. She nodded slowly as she frowned.

"Yeah. Once it got more heated, I freaked out and we stopped. He only kissed me back because I started it." Olivia replied. She didn't want to hide anymore. All she wanted was to have her life back, but she knew it would be far from what it once was.

"Why would you kiss him, Liv? He's hurt you so much, but you just kept going back to him. And you went back to him again." Elliot whispered.

"When someone is in pain, they do horrible things. My mom was in pain after I was born, so she beat me and drank herself to death. Your mother? She was in pain because she wasn't in control of her own body and mind. You? You slept around, left your family, then took all of your anger out on our children. Everyone who is in pain at one point or another does something bad." Olivia spoke.

Elliot sank down onto the couch and ran his hands over his face. Olivia sank down beside him, and gently rubbed his back.

"You still have your rings on..." He breathed.

"Of course I do, I'm still married to you," Olivia spoke. Elliot looked over at her, before leaning up and kissing her lips gently. Olivia kissed him back just as gently as he was kissing her.

"Am I the better kisser?" Elliot asked, and Olivia smiled.

"Yeah, but I'm biased. I've been kissing you for 7 years." She smiled. Elliot stood and walked over to grab his jacket. He put it on before looking at his wife.

"I'm going to go back to my hotel room. Can I come over tomorrow and spend the morning with you and Joey?"

"Don't you have to work?" Olivia asked.

"I was suspended for being intoxicated on the job. I'm still getting paid, but it's only because you need the money. Cragen told me that."

"You can come over tomorrow, and as soon as you get back to your hotel room, dump out the booze. Please." She spoke.

"I will, as long as it means I can possibly get you and the boys back."

Slow.

The one word that could describe their attempt at getting back together was slow. They didn't spend more than three nights a week together, and at least one of those nights was a date night. The kids spent a lot of time with Elliot's older sister, Della, who he recently reconnected with. Della knew that Elliot had been hurting while Olivia and he were on an unofficial separation, so she was willing to babysit her nephews to help them get back together.

"You look nice," Olivia spoke, as she took her jacket off and draped it over the back of her chair. Elliot smiled as he walked around the table and hugged her gently, before pressing a soft kiss to her temple.

"Jeans feel really weird." He admitted, and she laughed softly.

"I know. But you look great in them." Olivia smiled. Elliot pulled her chair out and pushed it back in once she was sitting. He sat down in his spot and smiled at her.

"So, is Della watching the kids tonight?" Elliot asked, and Olivia shook her head.

"No, Uncle Fin is." She spoke, as she tried not to laugh when calling Fin that.

"What are their plans?" He asked.

"I made lasagna, so they are eating that for dinner. Then the boys found all of the dinosaur movies we have, and they are planning on watching that tonight." She replied.

"Sounds like fun." He admitted.

"Would you rather be home with them? We don't have to do date night tonight." Olivia spoke, but Elliot shook his head.

"Tonight is a night for just us. So, how have you been?" Elliot asked.

"I've been good. Tired mostly, but that's because I've been running the boys around and Joey is starting that early preschool program that the others boys did, so I have more to do in the morning to get all four of them out the door."

"I can come over, sleep over..." Elliot spoke, as a sly smile grew on his lips.

"Oh really. Wanna kick Hunter out of his race car bed?" She shot back.

"I built that bed, so it's kinda mine too." Elliot huffed, but he was still smiling a bit.

"So, there is something we need to approach," Olivia spoke, as the waiter brought out the wine Elliot ordered before she arrived.

"What's that?" Elliot asked as he nodded at the waiter to thank him silently.

"Cassidy has a project in school. He has to make a family tree. So, we have to decide if we tell him that you adopted him, or if we just let him continue to believe this all." Olivia frowned.

"Oh."

"Yeah. Like I already gave him the names of the kids you have with Kathy, and then I gave him the information on my mom and on your parents and siblings."

"Did you give him Simon's name?" Elliot asked, and Olivia nodded.

"Yeah. He's apart of my family even if he is batshit crazy." Olivia replied, and Elliot chuckled a bit. He was realizing that most of their family is batshit crazy.

"Do you think he's old enough to understand what happened?" Elliot asked.

"He's a smart little boy, and he's brave. So brave." Olivia replied.

"Then maybe it's time we sit him down and tell him about how he came to be."

Olivia and Elliot kept Cassidy home the next day. Elliot came over and spent the time that Olivia was dropping the boys off, with Cassidy. Then once Olivia was home, she called Cassidy into the kitchen.

"Yes, Momma?" He asked, a sweet smile on his face.

"Daddy and I have to tell you something."

"What is it?" Cassidy questioned, as he sank down onto one of the kitchen table chairs.

"Well, when I was pregnant with you, Daddy came back," Olivia spoke.

"But I thought you and Daddy were together and that's how I was made?" He asked as he thought about the love overflowing statement his parents told him when he asked how babies were made when Olivia was pregnant with Joey.

"Bud, Uncle Brian is your Dad... he wasn't in a good place so I adopted you and Momma and I decided to get married and raise you together."

"What?!" Cassidy exclaimed.

"We kept this from you because we didn't want you to get hurt while Brian was trying to figure himself out. Just like Daddy was when I was just here with you and your brothers."

"No." Cassidy whimpered.

"Ca-"

"No, Momma! Daddy is my Daddy! Not Uncle Brian!" Cassidy screamed, before running off. Olivia looked at Elliot and frowned.

"Maybe he wasn't ready..."
