Twenty-Eight

Olivia and Brian laid together in the morning, even before their alarms went off. Olivia rested her head against his chest and smiled softly as he rubbed her back.

"Do you have to go to work today?" He asked her before he leaned down and kissed her soft brown hair gently.

"Why? Do you want to spend the rest of the day with me?" Olivia asked, as she looked up at him and smiled.

"I do. Maybe send Joey to hang with the sitter today, and you and I can just hang out together."

"You wanna do more than hang out together. You wanna make love, huh?"

"Well, kinda. It wouldn't be a bad thing, right?" Brian asked, and she smiled and shook her head.

"I'll call in, Bri. And this is all me, I'm not going to blame you if I get freaked out."

"We should go shower."

"Not together or else we will never get out. If you get done before me, can you go and start scrambling eggs for the boys' breakfast?" 

"Yes, ma'am."

Olivia felt alive for the first time in many years. Brian made her feel like she was human again, and not just some robot that Elliot made her into. She was smiling and felt lighter as if the weight of the world was no longer on her shoulders.

"The kids are going to wonder why Momma is all smiles today," Brian spoke, as he wrapped his arms around Olivia's body and rested his head against her shoulder.

"It's because of you. That is all they need to know." Olivia smiled. She turned her head and pressed her lips against the corner of Brian's mouth before smiling. Brian turned Olivia around and she quickly grabbed the towel from the counter and wiped her hands off to remove the dishwater and soap, before pressing her hands against Brian's lower back.

"You want another baby?" Brian asked, and Olivia laughed.

"I told you that yesterday. Why?"

"Because I can be the father to your first baby and your last." Brian smiled. Olivia laughed again, before pressing her lips firmly against Brian's.

"Don't get too cocky, Brian. But-" Olivia started, but she couldn't finish because her cell was ringing, and the ring tone was the one she assigned to Amanda.

"Need to get that?" Brian asked, and Olivia nodded.

"It's Amanda. I have to. I'll be right back, babe." Olivia spoke, testing the word she used to use when they were dating. What they were now might be dating, so that is why she tried to use the word.

Olivia answered the phone and talked to Amanda for a few minutes before walking back into the kitchen and looked at Brian.

"There is a case and I have to go in and work it with the rest of the crew. Can you take care of the boys tonight? Pick the oldest three up at school?"

"I've got this, beautiful. But I won't unless you kiss me one last time." He smiled.

"You are bold, Brian Cassidy. Very bold." Olivia smiled. She walked over to him and pressed her lips against his for a few short moments before going to gather her things.

Olivia worked the case with the crew, while Brian did what Olivia usually did when she was home. He made the boys dinner, even if it was kinda burnt, the boys enjoyed it. After dinner, he washed up the dishes before helping the older boys with their homework and checking it for them.

Brian was caught up taking care of the boys and making sure that they had correct and complete homework, that he forgot to give them baths. He didn't realize that until it was 9 and he had four tired little boys who were still in their normal clothes.

"Do you three think that if we get up early enough, you could take baths in the morning?" Brian asked as he carried Joey upstairs since he had fallen asleep on the couch around his bedtime.

"I think so." Cassidy yawned.

"Okay. Well everyone go get in your pajamas, and I'll get Joey changed and in bed. We will call your Momma but we won't tell her about this though, okay?"

"Deal, Daddy," Danny spoke, his voice so tired that Brian knew that he said that because he was tired.

Brian changed Joey into his footy pajamas before laying him in his bed. Then Brian grabbed his phone and dialed Olivia's number before opening Danny and Hunter's room, where Cassidy was changed and making sure his brothers did the same.

"Hey, Bri. What's up?" Olivia questioned.

"The boys want to say goodnight to you. Speakerphone okay?" Brian replied as the boys smiled largely at the kids.

"Yes, it's okay."

Brian took the phone away from his ear and hit the speakerphone button. 

"Can you hear us, Momma?" Cassidy asked, and Olivia laughed softly.

"Yeah, I can hear you, sweetie. How was school?"

Brian got the boys into their beds and Olivia said a special goodnight to each of them before Brian took the phone and talked to her while he went to go to bed himself.

"Were they good for you?" Olivia asked as she leaned back in her desk chair while Brian laid down in the middle of her bed instead of his.

"They were. Your kids are such sweethearts. I could ask for better kids to be around."

"Did something happen, Brian?" Olivia breathed.

"It was weird... uh, Danny called me Daddy tonight. I know he was tired and that was why, but still. It just made me feel so weird and so happy..."

"I want you to be able to be their father... since Elliot is a shitty father."

"I'm not going to be any better than him, Liv." Brian breathed.

"You can be better than him because you don't want to rape and kill me. You don't want to kick me out of the house because I kissed someone else." Olivia breathed.

"It's because I love you no matter what your flaws." Brian breathed.

"I have a ton of flaws, babe," Olivia whispered.

"So do I... but I think we can be good together Liv. I think that we are both mature enough now to be together. So date me... be my girlfriend."

"It's an honor to date you, Bri. I'll be home in the morning to take a small break. I better see you there."

"I don't want to be anywhere else."
