Twenty-Six

One Month Later

Only one month after Elliot tried to kill his wife, he laid on the floor of a cell in Sing Sing. His head was bleeding heavily from a wound that he caused himself. He was trying to kill himself because he didn't want to be alive anymore. He wanted to die because he was finally realizing what he had done to his wife. Well, his now ex-wife.

He had gotten 25 years in prison. It was higher than a normal sentence because he said he was going to rape Olivia to impregnate her against her will. She had testified against him, and he was screwed the moment she went under oath.

"Fuck!" A guard yelled, as he opened the door to Elliot's cell and knelt beside him. He yelled for help as he kept his fingers pressed to Elliot's neck.

"Don't be a coward, Stabler. Don't let this be your way out." The guard growled, and Elliot looked over at him.

"Let me die, man. I tried to kill my wife while my children were still in the house. I said I'd rape her to get her pregnant. I deserve to die..." Elliot's sentence trailed off, and the guard lost Elliot's pulse. He started to do CPR on the prisoner because he wasn't letting him die after only serving two weeks of his sentence.

"Nope, you aren't dying!"

Olivia was laying in her new bed, her arm draped over Cassidy's body. She heard her phone ring, but she didn't really realize that it was her phone ringing and not Brian's.

"Liv," Brian whispered as he walked into Olivia's room. She sat up and looked at him.

"What?" She questioned, before sighing. He tossed her the phone, and she quickly climbed out of bed and answered the call.

"Hello?" She questioned.

"Liv, it's Don. I'm sorry to wake you."

"What's wrong, Don?" She questioned.

"Elliot is in the prison hospital. He tried to kill himself by slamming his head against the brick wall of his cell." Cragen replied. Olivia swallowed hard as she looked over at Brian. He walked towards her and gently touched her arm and ran his fingertips over it.

"Can you keep me updated, Don? I have a sleeping kid in my bed right now and I don't want to wake him up." Olivia replied.

"Of course, Liv. I'll call you in the morning with an update. Sorry to wake you." He replied. They ended the call, and Olivia locked her phone again.

"Liv?" Brian asked, and Olivia bit her lip before reaching up and wiping a tear from her cheek.

"Elliot tried to kill himself. He's in the prison hospital, but I don't know if he'll live." She breathed.

"Liv, I'm sorry." He whispered.

"He is a coward for trying what he tried. I'm going back to bed. Sorry to wake you."

"He's on a vent," Amanda spoke, as she put her desk phone back in its cradle.

"So, is he gonna die?" Dominick asked, and Amanda shook her head.

"Doesn't sound like it right now. Maybe. I don't know." Amanda sighed. She leaned back in her chair and sighed as she looked at her husband.

"Does Liv know?" Fin asked, and Amanda nodded.

"Cragen called her last night and told her. He said that she didn't seem too concerned about it, but then again it was the middle of the night and he is her ex-husband."

"Her ex-husband that is also the father of her three youngest sons." Fin replied.

"I'm going over to see her. They should be up, right?" Amanda spoke, and Fin looked at the clock and nodded.

"Yeah. The boys have school soon."

"Tell Cragen that I'm going over there then."

Olivia didn't tell her kids about their father. She and Brian just went about their usual routine. Brian and Olivia weren't together, but he was helping her with the boys and helping her with the recovery process.

"Liv, Amanda is here," Brian spoke. Olivia looked up from where she was brushing Joey's curls.

"Why?" Olivia asked.

"She said she wants to talk. I'll take over with the boys. Want me to take them to school if you aren't done by the time they need to leave?"

"Yes, please. Boys, I love you." Olivia spoke, before handing the brush to Brian. Olivia walked out to where Amanda stood on the front stoop.

"You could've come in," Olivia said with a small smile.

"Do the boys know yet?" Amanda asked, and Olivia shook her head.

"No, they don't. Have an update?" Olivia asked, and Amanda nodded.

"He's on a vent. They think that he'll be okay, eventually."

"Okay. Cool." Olivia sighed.

"Liv-"

"He tried to kill me, Amanda. I want him alive, but I don't want him out of jail."

"They are transferring him to the secured part of Bellevue."

"Great." Olivia sighed. She crossed her arms over her chest as she heard Brian tell the boys it was time to go. He was going to bring Joey with him too, and she could hear the excited words from her youngest son when he found that out.

"Do you want to go see him? Maybe tell him off while he is sleeping?" Amanda asked.

"I don't want to go anywhere near him, Amanda. He's not going to be out for a while. Joey is going to be 27 when Elliot is released. I'll be a grandmother by then. I don't want to see him till then." Olivia spoke. She looked at Amanda before sighing.

"I'll go then. I'll see you soon, alright? I love you, Liv."

"Yeah, I love you too, Rollins."

Olivia didn't know why, but she found herself heading up to the hospital. She signed in and got patted down before being allowed to sit with Elliot for five minutes. She looked at her ex before shaking her head a bit.

"You are going to try and get out of your prison sentence. You don't deserve to be a free man. I don't want you dead, Elliot, but I want you to rot in jail for what you did to me. I still can't believe that you would've hurt me in front of our sons. I'm glad that we didn't decide to have a baby because then I'd be forced to converse with you over our child. I'm leaving now, El. And don't expect me and the boys to ever visit you." Olivia spoke. 

She stood up and looked down at her ex-husband. She knew she was in love with him at some point, but she couldn't even see that anymore. She didn't even know who this man was anymore.
