Thirty-Two

Olivia got changed quickly before running down the stairs as her husband followed her. Brian grabbed Olivia's arm before she could run out of the front door.

"What is wrong? Liv, please just tell me, baby."

"Elliot is awake. I'm gonna go see him. Please, just please don't tell the kids." Olivia spoke, and Brian nodded slowly.

"Okay. Just-"

"I know, baby. I know. I won't let him get to me. I love you, so much. I promise you that this won't last much longer." Olivia spoke. She stepped forward and wrapped her arms around Brian's body before kissing him deeply. He wanted her to stay, but he also knew she needed to go see Elliot.

"It better not last too much longer, because I miss you so much."

"I think once this happens, and once I know he is going to live, that you and I will try for that little girl we both want so much." She grinned, before quickly hugging him one last time before walking out.

"Where is Momma going?" Cassidy asked, as he walked out of the kitchen and looked at his father.

"She just has a few errands to finish running then she will be back home."

Olivia got up to the hospital, and she quietly walked down the hall to where Bernie was sitting and talking quietly to Elliot. Elliot saw Olivia standing in the doorway and he smiled.

"Hey, babe." He spoke, and Olivia felt her throat tighten.

"Elliot..." She breathed.

"Honey, you and Olivia got a divorce. Do you not remember?" Bernie asked, and Olivia swallowed hard as finding out about this all again filled his brain.

"I forgot." He whispered.

"How are you feeling?" Olivia asked as she tried not to dwell on this all.

"My head hurts and I was told that my face doesn't look the same." He spoke, and Olivia shrugged.

"You have always looked funny to me." Olivia teased, but that just made Elliot pull back and ignore everything that was said.

Bernie and Olivia tried to talk to him about everything that they could think about, but Elliot wouldn't say anything to them. Olivia pulled her phone out, and got into her messages and asked Brian to send her a picture of the boys. After a few short moments and a message asking her why she needed one, the picture arrived. Olivia held her phone out to Elliot before she sighed and shoved it the hand that wasn't handcuffed to the bed.

"What is this?" Elliot growled.

"Our kids. Look at them. It was taken today." Olivia growled back. He took a moment and held the phone close to his face as he narrowed his eyes. He looked at the picture before swallowing hard and shoved the phone back into Olivia's hand.

"It's your fault I'm in this hospital bed. You let Amanda torture me and send me pictures of you and Brian being a family, and that made me depressed and led me to get beat to an inch of my life." Elliot spat. Olivia shook her head before frowning.

"I'm not the criminal. But I'm leaving now. I knew that I should've just left you alone. Fuck off, Elliot."

It was a couple of months before Elliot could be moved back to custody, and instead of going back to Sing Sing, he was transferred to Iowa. He absolutely hated living there, but it was where he had to go so he dealt with it. He wrote to Olivia every day, and when he sent the letters out at the end of the week, he received a bundle of letters from a few weeks before that had been sent back, Olivia's swirly handwriting on the front that read "Return to Sender".

And while he dealt with life so many miles away from his children and the only place he had known as home, Olivia and Brian were celebrating the fact that they were having another baby together. They had to keep it a secret for three more weeks before they could tell their sons about the baby, one that they all hoped would be a little girl that was a spitting image of her mother.

"God, I'm so in love with you." Brian smiled, as he and his wife swayed together at the restaurant they went to. Other people were dancing too, and Olivia refused to dance until almost everyone else was.

"I love you too, Bri. Our start might not have been perfect, but this new chapter is pretty damn awesome." Olivia smiled.

"I have a feeling. A feeling that this baby is going to be a girl. One who is so cute and amazing."

"I hope so, I love all of our sons... but I just want to be able to buy cute little pink things and come up with a cute little girly name. Honestly, I don't recognize myself right now. I don't even really like pink." Olivia laughed softly.

"You are adorable when you ramble like that. Now, dip me." Brian laughed, and Olivia felt her face go hot as she buried her face in his shoulder and laughed. He held her a little closer before kissing the top of her head.

They continued to dance for a bit before Olivia heard her phone ring from the table. She pulled her husband from the dance floor and walked over and answered her phone.

"Benson." She sighed.

"Olivia." Elliot's voice breathed. Olivia's eyes went wide because she didn't think he'd be able to call her. She was hoping that when he almost died, he had always lost her number.

"Why are you calling me?" Olivia breathed, as Brian came up and placed his hand to her lower back.

"Because I'm getting an early release because I was almost killed. I'm coming back to Manhattan and I want custody of my kids. All four of them."

"Elliot, why would anyone give you custody of our children after you hurt me and threatened to rape me! I guess I'm gonna have to get a restraining order against you, you asshole!" Olivia spat. Brian pulled the phone from his wife's hand and held it to his ear.

"Elliot," Brian spoke.

"I was hoping she'd just say yes, after what happened." Elliot sighed.

"You need to stay away from us all, okay? Please? When are you getting released?" Brian frowned, as Olivia started to get her jacket on.

"In three years, but it's still early. Please, just get her to reconsider."

"She's pregnant, Elliot. I know that it isn't your kid, but I'd like my wife and child to not get hurt by this stress. So, please stop sending her letters and please just don't call again. I'll try, but I can't promise anything."
