Away pt. 5 ≫ Michael

"Alright," You said as you pull over the parking space. "I'll be waiting here." You looked at the rear view mirror to see Allison sitting at the back.

"You're not coming?" Allison asked. They both wanted you to come with them, but you just can't face or stand to see Michael again.

"Good luck with meeting him." You nodded and ignored her question.

"Mum!" Alex grunted. "Don't be such a killjoy." He mocked you and shook your arm.

"No, I am not coming." You said firmly.

"Alright, if you don't come with us we'll go home with him if we turn out to like him. We'll never be back with you." Allison threatened you, but she sounded pretty serious.

You looked down and laughed, reminding you of how persistent your daughter is, just like you. "Okay, okay fine. I'll go." You gave in. You unlocked the doors and the three of you went out the car.

The three of you sauntered the pavements. The twins always look around and see families together every time you take them to the park. "I wish we had a dad when we were young." Allison whispered to her brother.

"It's going to change now. We're going to be a whole family after this." Alex positively said.

You can't help but overhear their conversation, "Just so you two know, this doesn't mean your dad and I are getting back together." You told them. You took a seat at a bench in the sidewalk and so did the twins.

"You love him, mum." Allison rolled her eyes and sat closer to you. "We know you do." Of course you love him, he loves you. But some people aren't just meant to be together.

You waited for Michael to show up. You looked around the park filled with people, and there you saw him again, walking pass the crowd. You started to breathe heavily and your palms started to sweat. "He's here." You said under your breath.

"Oh god. I can see him." Alex said and locked his eyes on the crowd.

Michael walked towards your direction and as soon as he saw you, his eyes never left yours. "(Y/N)!?" He exclaimed and rushed towards the bench where you're seated in. "Oh my god. Are you guys Alex and Allison?!" He said, obviously overwhelmed to see all three of you.

"Yeah," Alex stuttered and stood up. "Uhm, hi. Big fan of your band." He said awkwardly and reached for a handshake.

"God." Michael can't help but pull his son for a hug. "I never imagined teenagers now to like our songs way back then." He joked, but this moment was such a sight.

Allison just sat with you, she stunningly looked at her father who she hasn't seen her whole life. "They look alike." She told you and you can't help but laugh.

"You must be Allison!" Michael exclaimed. Allison shyly nodded and carefully stood up to hug her father. "You're so so so beautiful." He said as she hugs her.

"Uh, thanks." Allison said and hugged him back. She looked back at you, using her eyes to signal you to stand and say hi to Michael.

You stood up, "Okay, I'll leave guys here for a while. I'll be in the car." You told the twins.

"(Y/N), wait." Michael pulled your arm for you to stay. You turned to him and looked at his eyes. "Hi." He simply said.

"Hi." You said and waved your hand a little.

Alex cleared his throat to break the awkwardness, "Can we at least spend the day as a family?" He asked the both of you. Allison nodded to her brother's suggestion.

"Of course we can!" Michael immediately chirped. He looked back at you and asked, "Right?"

You gently nodded your head. You knew you had no choice, even if you said no the twins would force you to say yes.

Michael and the twins exchanged endless and countless stories about everything under the sun. They instantly felt comfortable with each other's company. You walked together with them and sometimes laugh at their stories. You were in doubt at first, but you obviously enjoyed Michael's presence to.

"Thank you for this day." Michael told you as he walks you back to your car. You instructed the twins earlier to head back to the car to leave you and Michael to talk privately.

"Likewise." You smiled.

"I hope you're not mad at me anymore." He told you.

"After 16 years? We're okay." You laughed.

"But why didn't you come back?" Michael asked you in surprise. You never thought he'd asked.

"Because I thought after I left, you wouldn't need me anymore. I thought you were mad at me for leaving you." You started to explain.

He took your hand and wrapped his fingers onto yours. "We can try again." Michael locked his eyes to yours and you felt your face turn red.

"You're welcome to come over for dinner anytime you want." You said as you removed your hand from his. "I'm not joking." You laughed before getting into the car.

"Hmmmmm." Allison teased as soon as you got in. "Saw that." She looked at you cheekily and giggled.

You rolled your eyes and laugh. You looked at the side mirror and saw Michael standing at the side, waiting for you to leave. You drove off, feeling happy for your twins and yourself.
