2 weeks later:
Tim's POV:
"Kids she might be asleep so you need to be quiet." I state as the kids, Faith and I walk up to Maggie's room. The kids haven't seen her in over 3 weeks. It's only 8am so I'm pretty sure Maggie's asleep still. We get up to her room in the children's wing and walk in. Dr. Carson is in there, but she's still asleep.
"Hey y'all." He says quietly.
"She's been doing good. Her lungs have gained some strength back. She should be up soon, but she was up later last night so it might be a few." He states closing his charts and walking out. Everyone sits down.
"Is she still sleeping a lot?" Wesley asks looking over at me.
"Yeah. Dr. Carson says it's been less, but the pain meds she's on cause her to get tired easily." I state looking over at her. Maggie starts to stir a few minutes later.
"Hey baby." I state getting up and walking over to her.
"Hey dad." She says yawning.
"How you been feeling?" Faith asks.
"Ok." Maggie says looking over at the kids.
"Hey guys." Maggie smiles sitting up.
"Hey Mags." Audrey speaks up.
"How was the end of school?" Maggie whispers. It seems like she's having a harder time trying to talk.
"I'll be right back." I whisper into Faiths ear. I quietly walk out of the room and walk down the hall to find Dr. Carson.
"Hey Tim. What's up?" He asks when I get to him.
"Maggie seems like she's having a hard time trying to talk. I don't if it's nothing but it's just worrying me." I state.
"I can check her blood tests from this morning, but if you want me too I can come and see if I see anything." He says.
"Yeah can you." I state. We walk back to Maggie's room. Once we get there, Faith is hurrying out.
"She just threw up." We all hurry into the room and Dr. Carson goes immediately to her. Maggie's in a ball crying in pain.
"Maggie what hurts?" He asks panicked.
"My chest." Maggie cries. All the kids look freaked out. Faith and I walk over to them and hold them in our arms. I'm freaking out.
"I need to go get a scan of her chest fast. We'll be back." Dr. Carson says wheeling her out.
"Dad." Audrey whispers before breaking down. I wrap her in my arms. We can't be having another scare. We sit for about forty minutes.
"Faith why is it taking this long?" I ask pacing. Right then Dr. Carson walks in.
"Her lungs are bad, but there is parents whose fifteen year old son just passed away from a car accident. They want to give his lungs to her. Is that okay with you all?" He asks Faith and I quickly.
"There is lungs for her?!" Faith asks crying.
"Yes. I can get her up to surgery right now."
"Ok. Do it." We both say at the same time. I can't believe this is happening.
"Ok." Dr. Carson says hurrying out.
"Tim she's getting new lungs."
"I can't believe this. It's actually happening." I whisper still holding Audrey. We sit around for about four hours before I speak up.
"Why don't you kids go get some to eat from the cafeteria."
"Do you want us to grab you guys something?" Gracie asks standing up.
"Just a chicken sandwich." I say handing her my card. The kids walk out and I wrap my arms around Faith. The kids come back fifteen minutes later with the food. We eat and play some card games before Dr. Carson walks in.
"She's in recovery. Surgery went fantastic. I can take someone up there with me. Recovery should only last about a hour or two."
"Tim go." Faith speaks up. I walk upstairs with Dr. Carson into the recovery room.
"She'll probably wake up within the next hour." He says walking out and shutting the door.
