Jude sat down in his room feeling depressed. Nobody knew what was going on with him. He knew though. Everyone else went out to hang out at Freezing Rinx and eat at Fast Food Central later so that left him alone for a few hours. He was in the common room watching reruns of Sonic Underground like when he did when he was little.
Unknown to him, his sister was there with him.
"What's wrong Jude?" Bailey asked startling her big brother. Jude looked to the back to see his sister who looked upset. He knew that she was on to him.
"What's wrong?" She asked once more before she looked away.
"Nothing, okay." He lied. "Jude, I'm your sister, whatever you think you can't tell them you can tell me." Bailey's tone made him look at her. She walked over to sit next to him and when she did so he cried onto her shoulder.
She hugged him knowing what Jude had to say was very serious.
"Look, you can't tell anyone about this." He said.
Bailey looked at her brother before asking,
Jude, what's wrong?
You're starting to scare me.
Jude looked at his sister with sorrow and said,
That's the thing.
You really should be.
She had enough,
Why should I?
What are you trying to hide?
That was the moment where he revealed his dark truth
I'm trying to hide
The fact I'm gonna die!
Bailey was shocked at what he said
What?
He couldn't even look her in the eye
You heard, it's serious
I've got cancer.
Bailey's heart then sunk.
What kind? How bad?
Jude I need an answer.
Jude told her.
In the blood it's bad
I don't have much to say
It makes me sad,
But I'm dying day by day
Bailey was now in denial.
Are kidding me?
There's no way it's true
Jude told her as this was eating away at his heart.
Believe what you want
You know it's the truth
The younger Hathaway began to cry.
But why? Why?
Are you gonna die?
He said as his tears began to start flowing again.
It's terminal
So yeah, I won't survive
I've got terminal cancer
The news hit me bad
She realised something.
You said in the blood
Please don't say it's that
Her brother confirmed her suspicion.
Leukemia? Yes
I am so sorry
She got upset that he kept this secret.
Jude what the fuck?
Why didn't you tell me!
Jude.
It's all simple Bailey!
I didn't want you to worry
Bailey.
Don't worry about me!
Since when has it started?
Jude explained.
It started back
Since the last two days
The doctor came
Told me to prepare the grave
Bailey was mad.
What the fuck?
What did he say?
Jude looked down.
He told me I had
About fourteen days
Her anger rised.
Only two weeks?
Why didn't you tell me?
Jude.
Like I said
I didn't want you to worry
Bailey.
Never mind me
Jude I'm sorry
Jude.
Don't be like that
It's gonna be okay
Bailey asked.
How can you say that?
Jude smiled.
'Cause I'll punch death in the face
Bailey.
It must be a lie
There's no way that it's true
Jude.
Believe what you want
But you know it's the truth
Bailey
Just why?
Why do you have to die?
Jude.
It's just how it is
But want to survive
The siblings hugged each other tightly, not letting go for two minutes.
"You have to tell them Jude, it's not fair if you keep this a secret." Bailey told he brother before letting go of the hug.
"I will. Okay? I will." Jude said as he wiped his tears away.
"Now you know why I'm skipping classes all the time." He smiled knowing his immune system has been shattered.
"I hope you do it." Bailey said. "Do what?" He was confused.
"I hope you punch death in the face and live."
"I will sis. I will." He said before he pulled her in for another hug.
