Chapter 1

PYRRHA

I soon found myself walking through the busy streets alone. It's so noisy and so crowded. Why am I even trying to look for answers? This has nothing to do with me.

"Wrong."

The voice echoed in my head and soon I realized time stopped. Everything became quiet and not a single thing move, except me of course. The crowd disappeared. The world soon lost its colors and it's all dark and grey. Right now, I am seeing the work of the person I'm looking for. I saw him with his usual sly look and with those deceiving eyes. He still wore that black jacket since last week.

"Impressed?" he moved along with the shadows around us and walked towards me.

"Not really." I answered back.

"That's the only thing you say every time we meet. It's getting boring you know. But it seems like we're gonna have something interesting today, huh?"

With the single wave of his hand, the world we once stood turned completely white. He's really good at illusions and stuff since he is the "Deceiver" like what he said that first time we met. I'm kind of getting used to it already. I remained calm and took a deep breath, "You know I'm here to ask questions, right?"

"Yeah, I kinda guessed that already." he frown a bit as he started to float above the ground. "Are you seeing more of it?"

"You mean those-"

"Obviously." he smiled.

"Are you going to answer my questions now? These last days, all you did was to avoid it and just mess with my mind."

"Of course, I think it's time for you to know now. I think you're pretty ready for it... I guess." he said as he looked down on me which is somewhat annoying.

"That thing? What is it all about?" I asked with a louder and clear voice.

"Those are fragments." he said as he drifts through the air.

"Fragments of what?" I asked.

"Memories."

"Then what does it have to do with me?"

He stopped and landed back to the ground as he looked at me with those red eyes. The environment started to change slowly and faded to black.

"Those are YOUR memories..."

"MY memories?"

That answer really confused me. I do not recall any memory similar to that in my whole life as I can assume.

"That's nonsense. I do not remember any incident related to fire like that." I cleared it all up.

"Maybe, but that doesn't mean those aren't yours." he looked straight at me with a serious look. It's like he's looking directly at my soul which sent chills down my spine.

The world around us soon changes into something very familiar to me. This is it. That village I always see in that dream.

"I can assure it is yours by the first time I looked at those eyes."

"Well then, how is it mine?!" I asked and then he disappeared into thin air.

"Those are memories of your past self..."

My past self...?

I looked around where his voice came from as he continued.

"Having those really makes you special..."

"...making you different from the others."

"Or should I say... cursed!!!"

The whole village started burning similar to my dream. I can hear the shouting and crying and running. Everything was so realistic for an illusion. I looked down and stared at the puddle upon my foot. I saw my reflection along with his beside me. Something was odd and I saw my eyes were glowing red like his.

"You have those cursed eyes as well. You're a monster like me, Pyrrha." he whispered to my ear and disappeared along with the fire, the village... Everything.

I was sent back to reality by a tap on my shoulder.
