It had been three weeks since Tom left. Holly was currently living here, Diana was still in Sussex tending her sister. So far, we were managing. The twins adored him, and he clearly loved them.

"Come on, Lucy, say it for the camera." I said holding my phone up. "Say it so Daddy can hear it."

Lucy just stared at me. She'd said her first word just minutes ago, and Holly and I were trying to get her to say it again.

"Come on, Lucy, you can do it." Holly said. "Say it again for Uncle."

Boyd was in his Boppy next to Lucy, who was propped up in Holly's lap. He looked around, then shrieked happily.

"Dada!" He said, mimicking what his sister had said shortly before.

"Good boy, Boyd!" I praised. "Good job!" Boyd pointed at my phone. Tom had been video chatting with us, Lucy had said 'dada' right as the call ended. I looked back over to Lucy. "Say hi to daddy, Lucy!"

She kicked her legs and smiled. Holly and I encouraged her a little longer, then gave up. I turned the camera onto myself.

"As soon as we ended our call, Lucy said 'Dada', but we can't get her to do it again. You got to hear Boyd say it for the first time, though! We love you!" I ended the recording and sent it to Tom.

"I feel bad..." Holly said. "I get to experience all these exciting things, and he doesn't."

"Yeah, but we expected this. I'm under strict orders to record everything." I replied. Last week, we got them on camera during video chat, and they proved they could sit up on their own. They'd tumble over after a minute or so, get frustrated, then roll over onto their stomachs and prop themselves up on their hands and look proud of them selves.

Last week, I realized they were outgrowing their clothing. They were five months old in a week, and their four month old outfits were finally starting to fit. Since coming home, they'd gone up two diaper sizes and were sleeping through the night. Boyd now had three teeth, and Lucy had two with another coming in.

Holly shifted and Lucy looked up at him. She flung herself forward towards his other leg. I quickly turned my camera back on to record. She used his pant leg to pull herself up so that she could drape herself over his leg.

"Where do you think you're going, little girl?" Holly asked. She looked at me, then giggled. I smiled at her and waved. She held an arm up and scrunched her hand.

"Ba!" She said before putting her hand in her mouth.

"Does that taste good, Lucy?" Holly asked her. She looked up at him and then pushed herself back, tumbling down. "Uh oh."

She blinked several times, then started crying. Holly picked her up and cuddled her.

"You're alright, Lucy." He said. "You didn't hurt anything."

Boyd watched his sister then decided he had to cry as well. I stopped recording and put my phone down.

"Just because she scares herself doesn't mean you have to cry, too, mister." I said picking him up. I patted his bottom as he screamed in my ear. "There, there, bud."

After a few minutes they started to settle down. I handed Boyd over to Holly and got up to grab their bottles. When I returned, both babies reached out and smacked their lips. I handed Holly a bottle and took Boyd back.

"They really are sweet." He said as they sucked down their lunch. "A bit of a handful at times, but still very sweet."

"I just wish they liked me more." I said with a slight laugh. "Or I could at least understood their aversion."
