23. First Comes Divorce...

The first thing I did after we got out of bed Friday morning, was go to the post office and check my mail box. I'd been waiting to hear from the courts on a court date, and the notice was overdue.

I opened my mailbox to find one singular envelope. I pulled it out and looked at it. Thank the gods! I ripped it open and read the document. My court date would be Tuesday the 27th, so four days away. I had to be there at ten am. I smiled with joy the entire way home.

"I'm guessing you have good news?" Tom asked when I walked inside. I handed him the notice. "I can extend my visit a couple days if you'd like me to be there. I can leave for Tokyo from here, if you don't mind keeping Bobby."

"As much as I'd love for you to be there, I'd like to do this on my own." I said. "Besides, unless you plan on flying back to get Bobby, he'd be here until I go to London, and that's three weeks away." I said joining him on the couch.

"I could come back for him, gives me an excuse to see you." He leaned over to kiss my cheek.

"It's a waste of money." I said reaching up to toy with his curls. He rolled his eyes.

"Yeah, because I don't have plenty of that." His voice dripped in sarcasm.

"I'm well aware that you have plenty of money." I said flatly. "But that doesn't mean you need to make expensive trips out here all the time. They might not seem like much, but they add up."

"Darling, what I make with one annual royalty check from Thor, I could fly round trip to visit you six times a year. One quarterly royalty check from Infinity War would cover at least ten round trips." He said. "I'm not worried about them adding up."

I stuck my tongue out at him. Though I had no desire to know the exact amount in his bank account, I did happen to know he had an estimated net worth to the tune of 15 million pounds, thanks to the internet. That was the estimate in 2016, but I'm sure that number has not gone down. Still though, there was no point in wasting the money to visit me for a few hours, especially when I'd be studying for finals.

"I'm going to be super busy with finals, baby. It would be wasted time." I said. He kissed the top of my head.

"Well, I don't want to distract you." He said. "We'll celebrate when you get to London. Speaking of, you haven't told me what you want for Yule yet."

I thought for a moment. He was already paying my bills for December and January so I could take time off of work, he'd paid for my flight, and paid for my EMT national test. There really wasn't anything else he needed to do for me.

"All I want is you." I climbed into his lap and wrapped my arms around him.

"You already have me." He said kissing the tip of my nose. "Maybe you'd like to go to Paris?"

"Oh, that's tempting." I said. He rubbed my back.

"We could fly out to Spain." He said rocking me. "Or we could go to China."

"As nice as those places sound, do you realize how long my list of places I want to see in the UK is? Three weeks is not going to even scratch the surface of what I want to do. Don't distract me with the ideas of exotic places." I ran my fingers through his hair.

"Then tell me what to get you. You never ask me for anything, I want to spoil you for the holiday."

"Tom, you spoil me enough. Really, all I want, all I need, is to just be with you, and I'm already getting that. You've paid my rent for two months, at least, you told me it was only two; you've paid my car note and insurance, and you supplied my utility accounts with more than enough to last me through the winter. I'm not with you for your money, I'm with you for you."
