*(Tom)*

My heart was pounding as Astrid hunched over in pain beside me. Her nails dug into my arm. I threw the covers off of her, she was covered in blood. I grabbed my phone.

"Emergency, how may I help you?" A woman's voice asked.

"I need an ambulance. My wife, she's bleeding." I said, trying to process what was happening. "Please, she's twenty five weeks pregnant."

"Can you give me your address?" She asked, urgency in her tone. I gave her the address and the code for the gate. "I can have a unit there in five minutes."

"Thank you. What can I do until then?"

"Try and keep your wife calm. Help her steady her breathing and call your doctor." The woman said.

"Thank you." I said ending the call. I pulled up the emergency line for Doctor Klipper. I told her what was going on and she said she'd meet us at the hospital.

"Astrid, you need to stay calm." I said. How the fuck could I calm her down when I was in a panic myself. "Please, baby. Help is coming."

She had relaxed, and was now laying down, crying, cradling her stomach. I got up and pulled on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. I was looking for something easy to help her get into when the door bell went off. I went to the panel and pushed the button to unlock the front door.

"We're upstairs." I said pressing the speaker button. On the view screen, I watched as the EMT's entered.

"Okay, baby." I said, going back to her. I pulled the top sheet from the pile on the floor and wrapped her in it.

"Hello?" Came a man's voice from the hall. I went to the door.

"In here." I said. The two men came into the bedroom. "Her name is Astrid."

"Hello, Astrid, my name is Ricky. I'm a medic." The older man said. "We're going to take you to the hospital. Can you get up?"

"No." She sobbed. She curled herself into a fetal position. "I don't want to loose my babies."

"Can you get the stair chair?" He asked the younger man. He looked back to Astrid. "Can I take your vitals?"

She held out an arm and let him take her blood pressure. She looked so small on the bed. I felt so helpless. As he finished, she tensed up again, screaming loudly. A large clot of blood oozed from between her clenched thighs. I felt sick as I watched, unable to stop anything.

Within twenty minutes we were at the hospital. A team of nurses met us at the door, and rushed us to the Obstetrics department. I was left to wait as they took her to into the surgery room.

"Mr. Hiddleston, is there anyone I can call for you?" An aide asked quietly. I handed her my phone.

"My mum, please." I felt tears slip down my cheeks as I gasped for air.

"Please, let them be alright." I begged no one. "Please, just let them all be aright." I crumpled to the floor, unable to handle the weight of my fear.

Three hours later, I was in the company of my Mum, Emma and Jack, and Ben and Sophie. I sat in silence, trying to focus on my breathing. We were in a suite of rooms that had been assigned to Astrid and I. I was freezing and numb.

"Mr. Hiddleston?" A nurse said at the door. I looked up and she waved me towards her. "She's stable and asking for you."

"What's wrong? What happened?" I asked.
