"Okay, you guys know how I've been feeling sick?" I asked the twins. They were sitting on the couch, with Tom and I on the floor in front of them. They nodded their heads. "And I know you guys have been confused about why I can't pick you up."

They nodded again, and Tom handed me a printout of my last sonogram. I held it up to show the twins.

"This is a picture of my tummy, see this here, in the middle?" I pointed to the center, where you could see the shape of a head and arm. "This is a baby."

"How did a baby get into your tummy?" Lucy asked.

"Well, Lucy, you know how you and Boyd have different parts?" Tom asked, grabbing on of her hands. She nodded at him. "You have girl parts, like Mummy. Boyd has boy parts like me."

"The penis and vagina." Boyd said proudly. Tom chuckled.

"Yes. Well, when you get bigger, like mommy and I, those parts can be used to make a baby. That's how we made you. You grew inside mummy's tummy, just like this baby is right now." Tom explained. "It takes a long time for babies to grow, almost an entire year."

"This baby will be coming in April, right around Easter." I told them. "When the baby comes, you guys will be a big brother and a big sister."

"Just like Petra! She's a big sister." Lucy said excitedly.

"Yes, just like Petra. And Chris and Hal, they are big brothers." I told her.

"So, will we have a little sister?" Lucy asked.

"We don't know yet. It'll be a few more weeks before the doctor can tell us." Tom said. I handed Lucy the sonogram image.

"Wow." She whispered. "Did we look like this?"

"You did." I smiled. Boyd took the picture from her.

"It looks like an ailen!" He giggled.

"Right now, yes, but not for long." Tom smiled.

"Now, we are going to need lots of help to get ready for the baby. You guys can help us decorate the baby's room." I said.

"Where will that be?" Boyd asked.

"Across from our room, like yours used to be." Tom said. "I thought since we have to decorate that one, this weekend, we could decorate the room across from yours, so that one of you can move into it."

"Now that you guys are going to have a little brother or sister, we think it's time you had your own rooms. Just like big kids." I added. "So, who wants to move to a new room?"

"If I move, can we make it look like a fairy forest?" Lucy asked.

"Yep! And then next weekend, instead of going to the country house, we can decorate Boyd's room. Then you guys will both have brand new rooms before your birthday.

"I want a Pokemon room!" Boyd shouted.

"We can do that." I said. "Now, one more thing."

"We told you two about the baby, because mummy's tummy is going to start to get bigger. You can't tell anyone about the baby, because we haven't told anyone yet." Tom told them.

"That means you can't tell anyone at school. Not even Mrs. Smith." I added.

"For how long?" Boyd asked, looking sad.

"We're going to start telling people after your birthday. We'll tell you when you can talk about it, okay?" Tom answered. They nodded.

"To make it easier, you can talk about it with all your aunts and uncles, okay?" I told them. They brightened up at this. "We haven't told any of them yet, but you can, if you want."
