The silence was awkward. It was nothing like I felt with Aston. I stared at the trees in the distance, the sun heating my face like a popsicle in the summertime.

"So," he began, "I heard you and Aston broke up."

I swallowed. "We did."

He grinned and slid closer to me. "Would you mind telling me why?"

I narrowed my eyes. "I don't think that's any of your business."

He slid his finger seductively down my arm. "Is it because of me?"

"Go somewhere. I'd never ever date a skump bag like you. I did it once, but I'm not doing it again."

I stood up to leave, walking back towards the direction I came in, when arms yanked me back and turned me around.

I bit my lip, my eyes blazing. Matthew had me in a death grip, yanking me towards him, his lips on mine.

I knew what I had to do. I kicked him in his crouch, and he doubled over.

"Get the hell away from me." I spit.

He looked up from his position on the ground. "You don't mean that, Sophia."

"I do. Melissa was right about you all along, Matthew. You never cared about me. All you cared about was winning that bet. You're a sad piece of trash, and I hope you see that. When Melissa is found, I'm gonna tell her exactly how you acted."

His face turned into shock. "You don't know, do you?"

"Know what?"

He looked away from me, his eyes focused on the ground. "Melissa's not missing."

I felt joy in my stomach. They found her! "Wait- they found her?!" I asked, excited.

I was met with silence, and at first I thought he was still in pain. I mean, I had kicked him pretty hard. But as I put the pieces together, I realized that wasn't the case at all. Melissa wasn't missing, nor was she found.

Melissa was dead.
