My mom stared at the man in horror.
"Please don't do this!" she pleaded.
He chuckled, then pointed the gun at her forehead. "It's already finished, my dear."
He pulled the trigger, the noise ringing in my ears, then turned the gun on me.
He winked one last time, then pulled the trigger again, my vision going dark.
"Ah!" I screamed, then blinked. I was lying in the bed in our condo, everyone else fast asleep. Suddenly, my door creaked open and I sat up, frightened.
I breathed a sigh of relief as Aston poked his head in the room. "Sofa? What's wrong?"
I shook my head, then realized he couldn't see me. "I'm fine, Ash. Go back to bed."
Something in my voice must've given me away though, because the next thing I knew, he was lying beside me, his arm around my shoulder. "It's okay, Sofa. You can sleep now."
I obeyed, my eyes closing, his warm breath on my hair.

The sun crept it's way into the window and I groaned, feeling too lazy to get up. I hopped up off of the bed, and the first thing I noticed was that Aston wasn't in the room with me. I ruffled my hair, trying to somehow make it neater. I sighed, obviously failing at the task. My phone beeped, and I noticed I had a notification from Instagram. Instead of looking at it right away, I decided to fix my horrible bed head. I grabbed a white t-shirt, a hoodie, some jean capris, and my black converse, then hit the bathroom.
I brushed my teeth, my hair, then shrugged off my clothing, adding deodorant to my pits. I yanked on my clothes, walked out of the bathroom, heading towards the kitchen.
The condo we picked had about four bedrooms. Charlie slept in one, Aston slept in one, I slept in one, and Melissa slept on the bed in the last room, while Chad slept on the floor mattress next to her. The kitchen was relatively a decent size, not too big or too little even. Everything was light colors, blues, pinks, greens, you name it. It was happy and that was exactly what I needed.
I walked to the fridge, phone in hand, and noticed a note taped to the door. I peeled the tape off then read the note silently.
Hey Sophia! It's Lissa! I just wanted to let you know that Charlie and I went to go get breakfast for you guys. Aston and Chad are here if you need anything! See you later,
I put the note on the counter, then grabbed a glass and the jug of O.J. and poured me a glass. As I took a gulp, I checked my notifications on Instagram. Ashley posted a new picture.
I tapped on the picture and my eyes widened and what I was seeing.
Matthew had his arm around Ashley, and he was kissing her cheek. The description basically was: "Time with my bae!!! <3 ;)"
I felt my heart drop a thousand meters, and I suddenly ran out the condo, tears spilling down my cheeks.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I sobbed, wiping at the tears that fell down my face. He cheated. Matthew cheated. I couldn't believe it. Actually, erase that, I could believe it. Why wouldn't you cheat on someone as ugly as I was?
Suddenly, I heard footsteps, and I regained my composure and turned. Aston was a few feet behind me, holding a surfboard, a smile across his face. "Hey, Sofa! Glad to see you're finally up! I'm going surf with Chad. Want to come?"
I shook my head. "Actually, I'd rather not. It's better here anyway."
A hint of sadness crept into my voice, and apparently, Aston noticed because he was sitting beside me, his hand on my shoulder. "Hey- are you crying?"
I shook my head, coming up with the worst excuse I could think of. "It's the sun. It hurts my eyes!" I pointed to the sun, then shielded my eyes, hoping he'd buy it.
He stared at me for a moment, then said, "What's wrong?"
I rolled my eyes in my head. "Nothing."
He raised his eyebrows, continuing to stare at me. "Oh, it's something. "
"Will you cut that out? Nothing's wrong!" I said, waving my arm in the air as if to prove my point.
Then he asked the question that hit it right on the spot. "Is it Matthew?"
"N-No," I stuttered. I didn't want to tell him that he was right all along, to hear him say how much of a douche bag Matthew was.
"Liar," he said, staring at me some more.
"Okay, fine! You told me so!" I said, then showed him the picture.
Aston practically snarled, then shoved the phone in his pocket. "I always told you he was a jerk. I always said you were too good for him."
"If I'm too good for him, then why isn't he with me? Why is he with that girl?"
He sighed. "Look, Sophia, I know you probably think you're worthless right now, or something stupid like that, but you're not. In fact, you're the exact opposite, Sophia. You're gorgeous, smart, and the strongest person I know. And if Matthew can't see that, he's blind."
"Did you just-"
He held up a finger, indicating for me to stop talking for a moment. "I've wanted to tell you this for months. You have no idea how much it angers me to see you cry. At every party, you'd stand by the corner all alone, while Matthew was talking to someone else. You shouldn't cry, Sophia, you're too beautiful for that."
"But -But-"
Before I could even utter something else, he was kissing me.
