I sighed as I watched the only available show in television—golf. I couldn’t imagine how senseless it was to hit a small ball and shoot it to a very small hole somewhere. I turned the television off and heard a noise outside.
“Mom, I’m going out.” Just as I opened our gate, a guy approached me. Unfortunately, he was the same guy who followed me three days before in the football field.
“Jennie right?” He smiled broadly.
“Yeah. What do you want?” I walked past him. I went out our house to see the new neighbor, not to see this infuriating guy. I walked towards our neighbor but he stepped on my path.
“Hey! Can’t you see? I’m currently busy.”
He chuckled. “No doubt you got five failing grades. Your attitude is maddening.”
How did he know?
“How the hell did you know that? You are annoying!! Get lost.”
“I am not annoying. I'm Jisoo.” Wow. Nice joke.
“Ha-ha. Corny. Move away.”
“I can’t. I’m stuck here forever with you.”
I pushed him and he moved backwards. “You’re not stuck Mr. Jisoo But Still Annoying. See” I pushed him again. “You moved two steps backwards…”
“Oh. You know how to count?” Aaarggh. I almost slapped him.
“Move away Mr., Irritating, Aggravating and…”
“I like the way you say those words. I like it. I maybe like you too.” He said all of a sudden. I stopped.
Then he laughed. “Kiddin’… Me, Mr. Genius of the Year like someone like you? Na-uh.”
“You are very arrogant you know.” I boldly told him. Before he could open his mouth, I said, “Talk to the hand Mr. Oh-so arrogant, Irritating and Aggravating Jisoo. I don’t need your companion this afternoon. Thank you very much.”
Then I bumped to a hot looking guy I thought I’d melt right at that moment.
“Oh I’m sorry.” What a sexy voice…
PAUSE
He looked familiar, his voice was familiar, and his eyes on mine were very familiar… This couldn’t be.
PLAY
“Mino?!”
“Jennie?”
“Oh gosh. I miss you.” I hugged him tightly.
Mino was my childhood playmate. We have known each other ever since our nails grew on our fingers… Some say that he was my soul mate but we never believed them. Despite the rumors about us before, we stayed friends. Best of friends.
“I miss you too Jennie. You’ve grown. Why are you here?”
“We live here!” I pointed our house. “And we are your neighbors! Small world ha.”
“Ahem, ahem. I'm still here.” Oh crap. Jisoo ruined our friend-friend moment.
We looked at him. “Hi. I am Jisoo. His school mate.”
“Never mind him. Let’s go and let me greet tita and tito.”
“OKAY.”
For almost four hours I stayed in Mino’s house to catch up with the latest news. Tita and tito were also happy to know that we were their neighbors. At least I could go to their house every time my mother beats me. For four hours, I forgot the troubles life brought me.
“Bye Mino. We still have lots to talk about. I so miss you.”
“I miss and love you Jennie and I know you know it.” He kissed me on my lips. It was a just a peck.
“Gotta go. My mom maybe is looking for me.” He went inside their house and I started walking.
It had been a long time since someone told me that he/she loves me. It brightened my feeling.
“That was ew.” I heard Jisoo’s voice.
“Why are you still here?”
“You don’t kiss people like that... Ew.”
I looked at him confused. “What are you doing here?”
“I am currently busy annoying you.”
“I tell you, just shut up okay? I don’t care what you want to say and do just go away!”
“… And I just want to give you these.”
He handed me an envelope and a red card. “You know, I got that somewhere.”
I looked at the envelope and it was from Mr. Gee. Duh.
“Goodbye! I’m going home Jennie!”
I looked at the card.
I was stunned.
