I sighed when I saw that it was 11 PM.
“Twenty more hours and I’m gonna be dead.” I buried my head on my pillow. “Twenty more precious hours before the start of the play and I’m damn nervous.” A lot of students and teachers would be there to watch me act. Psh. In addition to that, Nayeon, the great actress, would be there. Good thing my mom wouldn’t see me cause she wasn’t interested at all.
Two days had passed since my so-called fight with Jisoo and obviously I agreed to be his Juliet. Scrap that. I agreed to be the Juliet and I was damn nervous about it.
I felt my heart pound faster. “Crap. This is irritating.” I shut my eyes and fled to dream world after a few hours.
The next morning, I immediately went downstairs after fixing myself and I heard mom talk over the phone.
“I told you, just stop bothering me. I don’t like the idea, not at all. Go to hell!” I heard her smash the phone back to its place.
When she entered the room, I pretended not to hear her. Curiosity troubled me but I stayed silent. I only saw her that mad once when I was five and it was totally unforgettable—it was when my dad left. “Where are you heading today?” I raised my eyebrow. She never asked me before.
“School. Play.” I said in between chews of bread.
“Go home early right after the play.” She paused and glanced at me. “Heard me?” I nodded and didn’t ask. She looked mad.
I grabbed my things after eating and headed to school. Before going to my room, I went to my locker to check my schedule because I needed to be in the backstage before the start of the play. As I opened my locker, an envelope fell.
I opened it and smiled.
Hi Jendeukie… Can I see you this afternoon? About 5:30 PM. Same place. I’ll be waiting there.
Mr. Football Player
My day was complete. I didn’t know why but something about his mysteriousness and whole being makes me rejoice.

“Too much smiling can damage the brain.” I heard Jisoo whisper during our Calculus.I rolled my eyes. “I don’t care.”
He chuckled softly. “Are you nervous bout later?”
He was talking about the play, “Not really. Just a little. You?”
“YEA. If I could remove my heart I would, just to stop its fast pounding.” I smiled and remembered Mr. Football Player.
I felt my heart pound faster. Was it nervousness too or was it something different?
“…But maybe it’s not nervousness that bothers me the most.” He smiled at me.
“Huh?” He just raised his shoulders and slouched back to his seat. “You’re being weird.”
That afternoon, I hurried to the willow tree—our meeting place. I glanced at my watch and it was clearly 5:20 PM. I pouted; as usual I was the early bird.
My watch ticked fast that afternoon. What felt like 10 minutes was really 20 minutes.
“Shocks he’s so late.” I breathed slowly. “I’m gonna be late for the play.”
I heard heavy steps from my back and was shocked when I turned around. A mascot.
“What are you doing here?” O_O
I was talking to the mascot! I looked at it from head to toe. It was a mascot used in football games—well, it was a smaller version. I already saw the mascot once. It was a mascot used by Fire Kickers, a team from another state.
I laughed as an idea formed in my mind. “Don’t tell me you are Mr. Football Player.” The mascot nodded. I looked at it suspiciously. “You can’t deceive me.” He motioned me to step closer so he could whisper something. "I call you Jendeukie and I am late for 23 minutes.” It was the sentence I was able to form.
I chuckled. “Whatever.” We sat under the willow tree. I looked really stupid because I was with a mascot. Psh, another embarrassing moment of my precious life.
We, I mean I, talked for about 7 minutes. I couldn’t hear him talk clearly because he wore the head of a mascot. I told him that I was quite nervous about the play and the only thing that could remove the fear was milk.
“I love milk. It removes all the negative parts inside me including nervousness.” I said happily and I heard him laugh. “What’s so funny about that?” His big right hand cupped my cheek like how he always did before and gestured a no.
Right after that, we stood and he waved his hand as he bade goodbye. I told him that I needed to go to the play because Jisoo would surely be mad.
A smile was plastered in my face all the way back to school. I was very sure that by that time, Jisoo was rummaging all around the school for me. How poor.
When I arrived in the backstage the directress shouted, “Thank goodness at least you’re here. Now, where’s Jisoo?”
I was surprised. “You mean he’s still not in? I don’t know where he is.”
“Oh my goodness. You were not with him?” She covered her face with her hands. “I can’t cancel the play.” She cursed. “Go to the dressing room and do your thing.” I made way to the DR and I heard her shout, “CRAP, Jisoo where the hell are you?!”
“Is Jisoo there yet?” I asked the make up artist. She lifted her shoulders. “Will we continue the play without him?” She again, raised her shoulders. I sighed, whatta nice answer.
After 20 minutes, I was all set but still I didn’t know if Jisoo was there or not. There was still 7 minutes remaining before the play starts.
He must be there or else there’d be no Romeo.
As I sat in one of the sofas in backstage and I felt nervousness all over me. Embarrassing predictions entered in my mind and all of them scared me. I felt a warm hand squeeze my shoulder and I looked back to see Jisoo.
Wow was the word to describe him. He was totally handsome in his outfit and I couldn’t help but swear to everyone that he was so damn gorgeous.
“Don’t drool babe.” He smiled evilly and I stood to hit him on his arm even if the sofa was still in between us.
“Don’t babe me AND I wasn’t drooling.” I defensively told him.
“Come on, don’t be shy. I know I’m gorgeous.” He posed like a model and he looked stupid, but still I knew that the bottom line was… he was Hott. I cursed myself for thinking about it. “You are beautiful too!” He held my hand and I felt myself blush. “You’re cold, ha-ha. You’re nervous.”
I pulled my hand away. “No I’m not.” I lied.
Out of nowhere he raised a milk in a can and I smiled broadly.
“This is for you.” I reached for it.
“How’d you know I need milk?” I opened the can and started to drink.
“GUYS 5 MINUTES REMAINING, GO TO YOUR PLACES NOW.”
“Someone told me that milk removes all the negative parts inside including nervousness…” He said simply and started walking away but still facing me. He nodded and waved his hand, and then he was gone.
I drank the milk as I continued walking to my place.
“That line sounds familiar.”
My eyes widened.
“Was that—was that my line with Mr. Football Player? Oh goodness. Can he be… him?”
