“Jennie, hi. *smiley face here* I’m kinda busy right now practicing for the tournament. But I got some time to type this email. They said our opponents have practiced much to beat us. But, I hope we’ll win.
I’ve got something to tell you...
I think I love you NOW not just as a friend. I dunno. It’s a weird feeling. I dunno. I don’t have the guts to tell you personally.
Gtg Jennie bbye. Take care. *smiley face*”
I bit my lip after reading the email Mino sent. I couldn’t believe it, as in, he loves me? OH crap, what about our friendship? ARGH. Whatda heck is happening to my life?!!
“SHUT UP OKAY?”
“Yes Ms. Lancoln, you were saying?” I looked up and saw our teacher in literature beaming at me.
I stood, “I am sorry miss. I was just preoccupied with thoughts.” I tried hard to forget everything Mino said in the email but I couldn’t. It was stuck in my mind and it kept on replaying itself.
“I guess I really need to talk to Mino about this in the tournament.”
I immediately looked for Jisoo after dismissal. At last, I found him sitting in the football field. “Hey Jisoo!”
His eyes widened as if he saw a ghost. “What—what are you doing here?”
“What’s wrong?” I pouted and sat in front of him. I noticed that he wore a jersey. “Hey, you’re wearing a jersey, what came up?”
His face changed. “Jogging. You know, exercise.”
“In the football field?”
“Yea, it’s cool.” He smiled. “Whatd’ya want anyway? Missed me?”
“Me, miss you? That’d be a miracle.” I said. “I want to get the right schedule in the football tournament when I can talk to Mino personally. I really, badly, desperately need to talk to him.” I said blankly.
“Oh I see. Seems you have something important to tell him huh?”
“Yea.” Very important.
He laughed and patted my head. “Okay. Anyway, I gotta go. I still have to do some important things.” He looked at his watch. “I will order the tickets for you okay? Promise, I’ll come.” After that, he was out of sight.Time passed by and nothing much important happened. I didn’t see Jisoo that much; he said he was busy about something. We cancelled our tutorial classes for the mean time.
Finally, the day of the tournament came.
The train was filled with young and old people carrying little flags with footballs printed on them. It was obvious that they were on their way to the tournament too, like me.
Yea, only me. Jisoo hadn’t arrived and was late for 20 freakin’ minutes. The intercom already announced that the train would leave in 2 minutes. I was disappointed because he promised that he’d come.
“Dad, will I see Mino there?” My thought shifted to Mino when I heard a kid. “He’s awesome! He’s the best football player I’ve ever seen!”
“I think I love you not just as a friend” I could imagine him saying those words. CRAP, I couldn’t believe it; the famous football player loved me more than a friend.
I slept during the one hour ride. When the train arrived, there were many people of all ages in the dome. I made way to find my seat before the game starts. Football players were on the field warming up.
I, then remembered Mr. Football Player. Will he play too? Will I see his face this time? Will his team win? Those were the questions that filled my mind.
"I wish I can see him, without helmet" I smiled to myself and watched the players kick the ball to the goal.
“Is this seat taken or not?” I heard a girl’s voice. I looked up to see a cute lady gazing down on me. “I was asking if this seat is taken or not.” She pointed to the seat beside me.
“You can sit there.” I simply said. “I’m Nayeon. You are?” She carried a bright smile in her face. Her brown eyes lightened when I smiled to her. Her aura was different and I was sure that we’d make a brilliant friendship.
I stretched my hand, “Hi Nayeon, I’m Jennie.”
She didn’t shake my hand. “You’re too formal. Just call me Nayeonie.” I smiled.
“Yea, sorry. Sorry Nayeonie” She shifted her gaze to the field.
“I adore football.”
“Seems so. Everyone in this dome loves football I guess.”
“Yea.” The announcer started to introduce the players. When Mino’s name was called, the whole crowd shouted. Oh gaa, I didn’t know that he was that famous.
I looked around to look for Jisoo. He promised me that he'd come, but he wasn't around.
“My close friend knows Mino.” She looked at me. "But he’s an opponent.” She smiled. “There he is!”
I looked at whom she was pointing. My eye balls nearly fell.
“Kim Jisoo, NOW back to the football field!!!”
Da heck… Jisoo?
