R u mad?
“Hold on…” I talked to my phone
SENT.
I covered my face with a pillow. “ARGH. Why do I need to text that jerk?”
Jisoo = jerk
NAAAHH… My conscience was so good—so good that it decided to use the phone by itself. I scolded my mind. I felt guilty and was thinking that he was mad at me. It had been two days since I last saw him. Classes were suspended because of the teachers’ retreat.
After about an hour, I felt something vibrate. My phone was ringing.
“Hello?”
“Guess who?”
I didn’t recognize the voice. “Ji—so--o?” I stuttered.
I heard a sigh. “I’m not Jisoo. It’s Mino.” That was upsetting. “I suppose you are waiting for his call.”
“No.” I quickly answered. “He wouldn’t call me, for sure. Uhm, why did you call anyway?”
“Nothing. Just checking. Bye bye.” He hung up.
HUH? What’s wrong with the guys nowadays?
I decided to go outside for a walk; it was boring inside my room.
As I was walking, I felt warm fingers cover my eyes.
“Guess who?” I smiled. Ha-ha.
“Mino, I know that’s you.” I confidently said.
But I heard him say, “You just broke my heart Jendeukie. I’m not Mino.”
“Jendeukie? You called me Jendeukie?”
He sighed. “Yea, you allowed me to call you that right?” I felt goosebumps.
HOLD ON. OHHHH….
MY GOODNESS.
Mixed emotions filled me. I was like, happy because he was there at the same time embarrassed because I said the wrong name.
However, a smile played on my lips. “Football player?” I struggled to turn around but he didn’t let me go.
“Don’t turn around. I don’t have anything on me.”
He’s naked? Whatda heck…
I heard him laugh. “Don’t get me wrong. I’m not naked okay? I’m just not wearing the helmet.” Did I say the sentence out loud?
“Oh.” I felt myself blush. How fool of me. The heck, I hated myself. “I didn’t notice you come.”
“You don’t need to notice me. I just passed by to see you—to see how you are doing.”
I pursed my lips. Honestly speaking, I felt my stomach flip. His voice made a tingling effect down my spine.
“Uh, can I see you too?” I didn’t know what to say, really.
“Sure.” Really? “---With your eyes closed.” He laughed. “Just close your eyes and don’t cheat.” With his hands still on my eyes, he turned me around. “Touch my face.” I was, probably facing him.
I moved my hands up and before we had contact, he spoke. “My face okay? Nothing more, nothing less.” I smiled. The guy was enjoying, I could say!
His face under my touch was smooth. He had a well-pointed nose and long eye lashes. His lips were normal. Well, I didn’t have any adjective to describe it!
“Done? Any compliments?”
“You’re still unfair. How could I distinguish you from other guys aside from the pointed nose and long lashes?!”
He laughed. “The main differences are: I am the football player you met when you had problems, the football player who of course, loves to play football, and the football player whom you can now describe the face but still you don’t know the real name.”
“Why do you need to keep your personality hidden? It’s as if I’ll hate the ‘real’ you.”
He chuckled. “Everything happens in the right time… I gotta go okay? Don’t open your eyes; unless you don’t want to see me the rest of your life...” He removed his hands.
“You’re lovely.” I blushed. Oh good heavens. I couldn’t believe a simple compliment could make me blush like that. I pushed him lightly away from me.
But slowly, I felt his breath closer to my face. I had the urge to open my eyes. “Don’t open your eyes.” Damn. He was so close. I could feel it and my heart beat like, a hundred times more.
Then, I felt that he backed out.
“I--- I—I—” he stuttered. “Damn, I can’t say it!”
“Say what?”
He inhaled, and then exhaled.
“I like you Jendeukie but I won’t do this, this way. I’m gonna do it the right way.” He said as fast as he could and kissed my forehead. “Take care okay? Don’t let the bugs bite you at night and always remember that I care.” He held my hand.
“Your hands are cold.”
“Uh… nervous. I'm nervous in front of you.” He kissed the back of my hand.
I opened my eyes and just saw the back of his shirt, about six feet away from me. He wore a cap. I wanted to run after him to see his face, but my feet felt stone, I couldn't move.
Oh goodness, I didn’t even have a glimpse of his face!
However, I thought hard of what he said…
Then…
“Who let the dogs out! Who, who, who, who, who!”
Crap. My phone received a text. A very nice way to disturb a scene, very nice…
“I’m not mad. I know you just miss me.” Argh, the nerve. He ruined the aura.
I went back home and rested. Mr. Football player’s voice was still on my mind.
“I like you Jendeukie but I won’t do this, this way. I’m gonna do it the right way…”
What did he mean by that? I suddenly felt goosebumps.
