Stefan's Thoughts
I can't believe I compelled her. It wasn't supposed to happen like this. I just wanted her to listen and not run away. Now, I'm consumed with regret.
I slumped in the living room with a glass of blood and Scotch, my thoughts a jumbled mess. Running my hands through my hair, I struggled to calm the turmoil inside me.
Ashelyonna's POV
Jessica stayed with me, and the constant throbbing in my head had subsided. I felt liberated, free from the burning urge to obey. Maybe Stefan had undone whatever he did to me.
I was in the shower when I heard Jessica mumbling into her phone. After a few minutes of enjoying the warm water, I stepped out, dripping wet and naked.
"Hey Jess, pass me the towel on my bed, please!" I called out, attempting to fix my hair into a decent ponytail.
Jessica tossed the towel onto my face with a laugh, and I giggled at her playful gesture.
Later
"Come on, Jess, I want to see my baby brother!" I said with excitement, grabbing my camera, phone charger, and earphones.
Jessica was lagging behind, and I couldn't figure out what was bothering her.
"Are you okay?" I asked as she got into the car and started the engine.
"I'm fine, just thinking," she replied, her voice distant.
"More like overthinking," I shot back with a teasing grin.
As we pulled out and hit the streets, heading towards the hospital about 20-30 minutes away, I hoped she'd share what was on her mind soon.

.Unknown POV
I observed as the girl's parents hurriedly drove out of the yard. The timing was perfect—my job had just become a lot easier.
"Kill the parents, leave the girl," the raspy voice instructed on the other end of the phone.
I hesitated. "The mother is pregnant, sir. It's not part of my job description to harm a carrier."
"That's not my problem. Finish the job," came the cold reply.
With that, I ended the call and began chanting a spell to fail the car's brakes. The spell worked, but a pang of guilt tugged at me.
After completing the mission, I contacted my employer to report the results and waited for further instructions.
____________________________As the Girls Arrived at the Hospital
Unbeknownst to them, they were being followed.
Jessica glanced around as people rushed in and out, attending to various tasks.
"Excuse me, where is the room where babies are born?" Ashelyonna asked the nurse, feeling a twinge of embarrassment.
"The delivery room?" the nurse chuckled.
Ashelyonna's face flushed with embarrassment. She shook her head, wishing she could disappear.
"It's okay, sweetie. Who are you looking for?" the nurse asked, turning to the monitor in front of her.
"Mrs. Sadine Parker," Ashelyonna said, forcing a smile.
The nurse scanned the records of the mothers checked in but found no Mrs. Parker.
"There must be a mistake," Ashelyonna said, her voice trembling.
Jessica, sensing something was wrong, asked, "Any emergencies this morning?"
The nurse ran another check. To her surprise, both of Ashelyonna's parents' names appeared.
"Oh my God," Ashelyonna whispered, fighting back tears.
"That can't be right. They were on their way here to deliver my baby brother," Ashelyonna's voice cracked.
"There must be a misunderstanding," she said, trying to stay calm.
"Please check again," she pleaded, her hands shaking. Jessica, standing by her side, placed a comforting hand on her friend's head as she tried to hold back her own tears.
"Miss, please, we can take you to see them," the nurse offered gently.
Ashelyonna, in shock, nodded numbly. Jessica held her friend's hand tightly as the nurse guided them to the ER.
Ashelyonna's heart sank as she saw her parents' bodies covered with white sheets. The sight shattered something inside her, and she fell to her knees, screaming in utter agony. The hospital staff and visitors looked on with pity.
Jessica crouched beside Ashelyonna, tears streaming down her face as she comforted her friend.
"Mommy!" Ash cried, reaching out to her mother's lifeless hand that hung from beneath the sheet. "No, please."
Later
"Let's go, girls," Jessica's mom arrived to take them both from the hospital.
Ashelyonna remained silent, her grief overwhelming her, but she followed Jessica and her mom, unable to voice her feelings.
