A/N - tried to write a happy dauren one shot but I don't know how it turned out. let me know if you like it xx

Lauren's POV:

"Dani. Focus. You're test is tomorrow!" I said to my younger sister who was doodling in her math book while completely ignoring me talking to her.

"Lauren! I can't do math!" Dani whines while she flops backwards onto her bed.

"Dani you can. Come on, just finish this page." I say, trying to encourage her. Dani rolls her eyes and gets up, picking up a pen while going onto the next question.

"Okay, so what do you have to do here?" I ask her. She looks at me confused and then back to her book.

"I-I don't know Lauren! I'm going to fail just like every math test I take!" Dani shouts and I can see a few tears rolling down her face. She puts her hands over her eyes and starts to cry.

"No Dan, it's okay. You can do this. You're going to pass. I believe in you Dan Dan," I tell her softly, rubbing my hand over her back.

"Why aren't I smart Laur?" Dani mumbles. I gasp a little in shock.

"Dani, you're so smart love. There's so many people who are bad at math but are so good at other things. Like music, you're amazing at music. I bet you lots of people aren't good at music but you are." I tell her calmly. She brings her eyes to mine, her eyes filled with tears and red. This breaks my heart, my poor Dani. She's been through enough.

"Thank you Laur," She whispers to me and I nod while placing a kiss on her forehead.

"Now, lets get back to math so you can pass this test tomorrow!" I say and Dani nods while getting her books.

"Good luck Dani. Just breathe. You're going to pass this okay." I tell my fourteen year old sister as we get out of Christina's car and make our way to our classes.

"Laur, I'm really scared. If I fail this I'm not going to get into the next grade and mom will be so angry with me and-," Dani goes on but I cut her off.

"Listen Dani, you've studied for this test so much. I believe in you. You're going to do amazing!" I tell her just before the bell rings indicating our first lesson starting.

"Thanks Lauren." She says while starting to walk away.

"Text me how it goes," I shout to her, I see her nod and then disappear down the hall. I make my way to my locker and get my books ready for my class.

The bell rings indicating first break. I make my way into the cafeteria and I see Dani sitting by herself, head in her hands at the table. I go over to her.

"Dan, what's wrong?" I ask her placing my hand on her back.

"L-Lauren, it was so bad. It was so hard. I forgot everything!" She says before breaking down into a hard cry. I rub her back and stroke her hair while I sit down next to her.

"Listen Dani, I'm sure it wasn't that bad. I know you probably did amazing." I say to her while stroking her back.

Dani starts crying again after a brief stop and I can't help but feel so bad for her. She has been struggling with school a lot recently, and it's not helping that she gets bullied by some of her classmates.

I pull her head to look at me and embrace her in a warm hug. I can feel my shoulder become wet as she cries onto me. I stroke her back and play with the ends of her hair.

While hugging Dani, I can see one of her ex friends come into sight with a spiteful look on her face. She makes her way over to us.

"Wow Dani, need your sister to fix all your problems for you and take care of you? Such a baby!" She states and starts to laugh with her friends. This makes Dani start crying even more and my anger rise.

I let go of Dani and stand up. My rage boiling and my fists clenched.

"Excuse me?" I state angrily while staring at her in the face.

"I think you heard me," She states and rolls her eyes with her friends.

"Don't ever talk to my sister again!" I spit in her face angrily while the cafeteria quiets down and starts to stare at us.

"Who's gonna stop me?" She says and shrugs. Her friends back away a little bit as I come forward lifting my hand.

Slap.

Everyone starts to gasp and her face is red with anger.

I slapped her across the face. Hard. She looks taken back, in shock. She scoffs at me and then walks away. Her friends following. My fist is still clenched, my nails digging into my hand.

"Come on Dan," I whisper to her, take her hand and pull her with me into the nearest bathroom.

"Lauren. That was badass. But you know she's the biggest bitch in my grade, she's going to make everyone in the whole school hate you. Why did you do that Lauren? She's going to kill you!" Dani says, stressing herself out. Her eyes still red and puffy from crying.

"Don't worry Dani. I think I handled her. If not, then I'll do it all over again. No one messes with my little sister. Okay?" I look at her and a small smile spreads across her face.

"I love you Lauren. Thank you," She leans in to hug me tight which I return.

"It's okay Dan. If she bothers you, let me know. I'm always going to be here for you." I tell her firmly and feel her nod slightly.

* skip one week *

"LAUREN!" I hear someone scream my name in the hallway. I turn around and see Dani run towards me.

"What's wrong? Are you okay?" I ask her worried.

She just hugs me tightly and I can feel her excitement radiating off of her.

"I passed math Lauren!!!" She says and jumps up. I gasp with excitement and hug her.

"Dani. I'm so so proud of you. Well done!" I tell her and kiss her forehead.

"All thanks to you Lauren! You're the best." She tells me happily and runs off to her next class.

I'm so proud of her and so happy for her. She needed this. I'm so glad her life is finally falling into place and that she doesn't have snakes to deal with anymore.
