No ones POV

8 years ago:

"Lisa, Lisa!" Lauren gently shook her 17 year old sister on her side. She was kneeling next to her sisters sleeping body and tried to pry her eyes open.

"Hm," Lisa finally woke and sat up to look at the young 11 year old who knelt in front of her, looking terrified.

"What's wrong Lo?" Lisa's voice was hoarse but her worry was clearly there.

"Why did that girl jump?" Lauren asked, Lisa hesitated and then looked down at her younger sister in regret.

"I'm sorry I took you to the bridge today, I thought it would be fun for us to feed the ducks in the water." Lisa didn't answer the question yet stared at her younger sister, who was probably traumatised for life. All because of her. God, Lisa. You scarred your 11 year old sister for life.

"But why did she jump?" Lauren asked so quietly that everyone in the room could hear Dani's snores from her top bunk.

"I don't know Laur, sometimes people aren't happy with their life. Sometimes they think it's best." Lauren looked at her older sister confused.

"So, she wasn't happy with her life? But Lisa, maybe we could have made her happy!" Lauren claimed in guilt as she pictured the girl with the long blonde hair jumping off the bridge earlier today, right into the water. They were only on the bridge for about 5 minutes before Lisa ushered her away to the car, not wanting to see anymore. It was too late though, Lauren saw everything and it scared her more than ever.

"It would've been hard. Look Lo, it's late why don't we talk about this tomorrow hey?" Lisa asked her sister, praying that the younger stubborn child would agree.

"No Lisa! I'm scared!" Lauren exclaimed in fear.

"Of what Lo?"

"What if someone I know decides that they're not happy and then jumps of a bridge?"

"It's much more complicated than that Laur, I'll explain that to you when you're older."

"Do you think the girl went to heaven?" Lauren asks innocently.

"She did."

A moment of silence occurred between the two of them while the younger girl stared into the older girls eyes, catching onto every word and listening anxiously.

"Lisa, will you never ever ever jump of a bridge?" Lauren said seriously, although she was 11 she was pretty serious for her age.

"I promise you Lauren. And you have to promise too, that you'll never ever jump of anything that could hurt you."

"You have to pinky promise!" Lauren exclaimed happily and wrapped her small finger around the bigger one.

"Okay, I pinky promise!" Lisa exclaimed, laughing slightly at her younger sisters ways.

"You can never ever ever break a pinky promise!" Lauren exclaimed seriously but with a small smile too.

"Okay Lo, let's go to bed. Come lay with me," Lisa told her sweetly, Lauren climbed in and wrapped her small body around Lisa, quickly falling into a deep sleep.

Present Day.

Lauren's long hair blew in the wind as she carefully walked to the Brindleton Park, where she spent most of her childhood. The park looked the same, expect for a few jungle gyms placed around and new swings in place. Other than that, it was exactly the same as it was eight years ago. After she turned 12, she stopped going to this park anymore although she couldn't remember why, she went to another one. It didn't have nearly half of the equipment and was only half the size of this one but her twelve year old self was still happy to her extent.

She carefully climbed onto the railings, getting ready. She breathed in and closed her eyes. Smelling the water right under her. Memories of her childhood flooded her mind as she pictured herself here.

Suddenly it clicked, she remembered why she stopped going. She was doing the exact thing. Maybe another child would see her and stop going as well. She couldn't let that happen.

How could she not have remembered this? It was the moment that kept her up at night, that made her feel dead inside like she wasn't even there. So many things happened to lead her back to remember this moment. Somehow she couldn't and she desperately wondered why. Maybe you had to be doing the same thing to remember another person doing the same thing.

She looked around the park, sure enough everyone was staring at her, clinging onto what her next action was. It was like they knew yet no one really seemed to care. There wasn't many small children around either which was perfect for her to do this here and then.

She had left a note for her family on the kitchen table, sure enough they'd be home for dinner soon and would read it. Every single person got their own special paragraph. Especially Lisa. I'm sorry for breaking our promise. Is what she put at the end. The promise that Lisa reminded her about daily and Lisa claims to have made the promise when Lauren was a little kid, but Lauren can barely remember that.

When she turned 14, Lisa immediately said to her 'remember our promise'. She had said this to me everyday but for some reason, that was the day I had to find out what this promise was. So, I went through her journals, laptop, phone, everything I could think of. I eventually found it, 'today I promised Lauren to never jump of a bridge'. I didn't know or remember where it came from so I didn't think much of it but looking back now I clearly remember it. Maybe I had to be here to remember it. Maybe. Lauren thought.

With one swift and glided move, Lauren stepped off the railing.

It felt like she could fly. It felt like she was floating.

She opened her eyes, capturing the moment. She turned her head quickly to the side, watching the trees pass her incredibly fast.

And then all of a sudden, a shrieking voice screamed for her. She looked and looked but was going too fast to see it clearly. She eventually landed on the face that was watching her anxiously. It was familiar and she instantly knew who it was. There she was, watching her fall. The same face that told her not to. I couldn't see clearly from here but she looked terrified. She was sobbing and screaming, but I couldn't listen. I couldn't.

"I'm sorry Lisa"

She whispered as she fell into the water, not caring about what had just happened. Only caring about dying. And dying now.
