        Chapter 3

            After rehearsals me, and Toni walk out of the theatre with all of our things. Ready to go grab a bite to eat before her date in a few hours. I’m feeling so grateful for the weekend, this whole week has been such a stressful and surprising week, and I’m just glad Friday has arrived. All I want to do this weekend is stay inside my house, watching Netflix.

“Let’s go to chipotle.” Toni says getting in the passenger side of my 2010 Black Dodge Charger.

I crank up the car, and I pull my seatbelt on. “Good idea, don’t really feel like any fast food. I already cheated, and had a Snicker Bar this morning.”

As I pull out of the parking lot Toni gives me the side eye. “In the morning?” She asks.

I nod my head. “Yes…In the morning. I know it was too early for it, but I needed a boost. I didn’t get any sleep last night.”

Matter a fact I haven’t been getting much sleep these last few days, I’ve had so much on my mind. After my play is over I plan on going to Jamaica for a vacation. I’ve saved up enough money these last few years, I can afford to stay a week or two. Broadway has taken over my adult hood, I hardly do anything fun.

“You’ve been tired a lot lately. I think you need to slow down, you are such a workaholic.”

I turn the corner, and I wait in the long line of cars as the train goes by. I slouch back in my seat, and I run my fingers through my hair.

“I know…I was just thinking about a vacation after my show is over with.”

Toni looks over at me. “Vacation where?”

“I was thinking Jamaica I would love to go check out the dance halls.”

Toni smirks her lip, and shoots me a look.

“What?”

“What you need is to get high, you are too uptight, and they have the best marijuana in Jamaica.”

I cock my head to the side. “How would you know? You been there before?”

She gets silent, and turns her head while scratching behind her ear.

“TONI YOUR BAD!!” I say slowly pulling off as traffic starts to pick up.

She starts laughing. “Girl…I went out there with my sisters, and we got so high. I never felt so good, but weird at the same time.”

I glance at Toni for a second, then back at the road. “You’re so bold Toni, you’re down to try things I wouldn’t. That’s one of the reason I love you.”

Toni flips her hair over her shoulder. “You won’t be that way for long. I’m going to help open you up.”

I glance over at Toni. “That sounded so wrong.”

We both start laughing immediately. Then we arrive at chipotle a few minutes later. We decide to eat in, so we can have a chance to talk a little longer. After we get our chicken bowls we sit down in the back of the restaurant.

“You know you never told me how this guy looks. I mean is he, Carmel Flavored with sexy green eyes. Is he dark chocolate with deep brown eyes, or is he Coconut white flavored, with blue eyes, and spiky hair?” I ask resting my chin on my intertwined fingers.

Toni smiles, then she licks her lips. “He’s Dark Skinned, with broad shoulders and toned muscular arms. Nice low cut, and neatly trimmed facial hair.”
