Toni and I were sitting in my kitchen drinking coffee, while talking about everything that we discussed in our last session with Julissa last week. She came over real early this morning with news that Aaliyah had been in a car wreck. I tried calling her since, but she hasn't answered any of my calls.

"How did you find out what happened?" I asked looking up at Toni as I stir the sugar cube around in my coffee.

"Have you been living under a rock?....it's all over the news."

I furrowed my brows as I got up, and went into the living room. I grabbed the remote, and I turned the TV to the local news channel.

"They will probably show it again later." Toni said as she sat down on the love seat.

I shook my head. "I just hope she's okay."

Toni sat her mug on the table, and she grabbed my hand to pull me down next to her. She looked at me, then smoothed some of my hair behind my ear.

"Let's go to the hospital and see if she's okay."

I shook my head. "No...no...that won't be such a good idea. I just wanted to know if she was okay...I know she can't stand to look at me."

"But she called you...you would never know what it was she wanted."

"Your right."

Toni stared at me for a few seconds before she grabbed my hand. She was just twisting the ring I had around my finger, as she begin to speak.

"Janet...are you sure you want to do this?"

"Do what?"

She gave me a 'you know what I'm talking about' look then she sucked her teeth.

"You know what I'm talking about."

I leaned my head back, and stared up at the ceiling as she continued to toy with my ring.

"I'm positive I want to do this. But I'm glad we're not jumping into it immediately. I like this steady vibe we got going on."

"Okay."

I looked over at her. "Why... are you having second thoughts?"

She held my hand in hers, then she looked at me. "Of course not...I just don't want to loose your friendship if this relationship doesn't work out."

I leaned closer to Toni's face, and I placed my right hand on her cheek, and I caressed it ever so gently. I placed my lips on hers for the first time since the first time I did it. Then I looked into her eyes.

"You don't have to worry about that."

"This feels so surreal." Toni said as her eyes glistened. She looked happy, and seeing that made me happy. I leaned closer to hug her, and we rocked side to side as we rubbed up and down each others back.

Once we pulled away from the hug, Toni grabbed her phone and immediately she was captured.

I got up, and decided to go put on some clothes since Toni caught me as soon as I woke up this morning.
