Chapter 28

Janet

1 week later....

After the gym I went home, and took a long hot shower. I forgot I had left my clutch over at Jeffrey's house the day of Marcus funeral so I'm going over to go, and get it.

After slipping on something comfy, I grabbed my keys, and my phone and headed over to his house. I swear I was getting so used to my driver, because I didn't want to drive for shit. I thought about calling him, but this was just a simple errand I could do myself so I sped over to Jeffrey's house.

I parked on the side of the road since I wasn't going to be there long. As I was unhooking my seatbelt I saw a dark figure coming from the side of Jeffrey's house, he looked as if he was sneaking. He had a mask on, but I knew that body from anywhere. His muscular arms were define, and his skin was dark. That was all I saw, and that was all I needed to see to identify that man. It was Dimitri. He ran down the sidewalk opposite of me, and got into a gray car that was parked three houses down.

I furrowed my brows as I looked intensely waiting for him to drive off. Once he did I got out of the car, and I ran towards Jeffrey's front door. It had been kicked in, so I was able to just push it open and walk in. I saw things knocked over everywhere, and a few bloody hand prints on the wall. Fear immediately took over my body as I walked further into the house. I walked into the kitchen, and I saw my cream colored clutch sitting on the sink counter. I grabbed it, and then I walked out of the kitchen down the hall.

"Jeffrey?" I asked as I walked slowly down the hall, peaking into each room. Once I got to the last room that led to the laundry room, and the back door I peeked outside and I saw Jeffrey laid out by his poolside.

I gasped as I struggled to open the door. I was panicking, and my palms became sweaty seeing him laid there, heaving what it looks like will be his last breath.

Once I managed to get the door open I ran towards Jeffrey, and I kneeled down next to him as I tried to sit him up.

I started crying immediately when I saw blood dripping down the sides of his mouth. He was coughing it up, because he was trying to speak.

I shook my head. "Shhhhh." I put my finger over his bloody mouth. "I know who did this, he won't get away with this." I said as tears spurted from my eyes. I heard sirens in the distant so I assumed his neighbors had already called the police.

Even though I didn't want to admit it, I knew Jeffrey wasn't going to make it. He had been shot in his back, and it went right through him. He was hanging on for dear life.

When the police got here, I explained everything I could to them. And they were telling me they can tell he put up a fight because of how much of a wreck the living room was.

The local news even showed up since Jeffrey was a very well-known entrepreneur. He just got into things with the wrong people, and now he's dead.

"So did you see the person who you believed murdered Jeffrey Collins?" A news reporter asked as she pointed a microphone in my face.

I nod my head. "Yes, but I'm not saying anything else. I just know that he will be put behind bars."

I walked away before the news reporter had a chance to ask me anything else. I got in my car, and I just sat there for a minute bawling my eyes out. I couldn't believe this, two deaths in one month?

"What the hell?" I asked as I leaned my head back crying even harder.

Jeffrey was gone, I couldn't believe it.

Things are really getting crazy around here, and I don't know why.

I laid in bed sobbing on my pillow as Toni called my phone for the fifth time. I didn't feel like talking because I could never get two words out. I would constantly be over powering my words with sobs.
