Janet

Chapter 26

"Janet are you okay?"

I looked over at Toni, and I shook my head.

"It must of happened right after I got off the phone with him. It was sudden."

Toni rubbed my thigh as she held my hand.

"And then the police keep coming to my house, questioning me like I had something to do with it." Janet shook her head. "Just because I was the last person he may have been in contact with."

We were pulling up in front of Jeffrey's house when I looked up. He wanted to rise with us since I had luxury sedan car, and a driver. Toni and I got out, and went up to his door. Our heels clicking each step we made on his pebble path.

I knocked on the door, and he opened immediately. "Come in for a second."

He turned, and we followed him in.

"Have the police been to your house?" Jeffrey asked looking between the both of us.

Toni shook her head.

"Yeah...they've been to my house several times."

Jeffrey shook his head. "This is crazy.."

"Crazy ain't even the word...this is unbelievable." Toni said walking towards the kitchen. "You have something strong in here to drink?" She asked looking in each of his cabinets.

"Yeah....in the third cabinet." He said walking behind her. "I could use a drink right now."

"Me too." I added in as I sat down on the stool at the island.

Toni did the pleasure o pouring our drinks again, and we all sat their drinking quietly. We needed this before we went our there to that funeral.

"Your tie is crooked." Toni pointed out, glancing down at Jeffrey's tie.

"I'll fix it...so do you guys plan on going to the get together his parents are having after the funeral?"

I shook my head. "Hell no. I'm taking my ass home, so I could go back to sleep."

Jeffrey laughed. "I wasn't going either...everybody gone be all depressed and moody."

"Yeah...that will ruin my mood." Toni added in sipping from her glass.

Jeffrey sipped from his glass daydreaming at the counter for a brief moment. He licked the remaining liquid from his lips then he said what we all wanted to say but was afraid to.

"I wonder who killed him."

I closed my eyes as I shook my head.

"No one will ever know, there wasn't.....an once of evidence."

We all shook our head. Then there was silence in the room, as we sat there drinking. This whole situation was crazy to me. I hardly saw much of Marcus, but it was still hard to believe his passing. I mean, he didn't seem to be a trouble maker, or a guy someone would want to get revenge on. I just couldn't understand who would do that, because the way they did it was just ruthless.

"You guys ready to go?" Toni asks after taking the rest of her drink to the head.

I nod as I stood up from the stool.

We all got up, and left in the car together as planned. Throughout the whole car ride we talked about everything that has been happening lately, and about our future. Toni wants to further her acting career, and put her degree to use. Jeffrey wants to continue being a spokesperson for cancer awareness, and building his company. And I wanted to become one of the greatest screenplay writers in the world, making movies that are gold in the box office, as well as plays.
