Janet

Chapter 7

It's been a few weeks, and Toni still hasn't gotten in touch with me, or any of our mutual friends. I went on the trip to Jamaica without her because she never returned any of my calls, text messages, emails, none of them. And I'm starting to worry about her, she's never went this long without talking to me. I even told her I wasn't mad at her anymore, and I apologized if I hurt her feelings when I yelled at her. She still hasn't gotten back with me, and I don't have a clue why. But I think it has something to do with that guy she's been seeing.

Today I decided to stop by her house for the umpteenth time to see if she will be there. Because we really do need to talk, our friendship hasn't been the way it used to be. It seems like since her birthday party things have changed, some for the worse, and some for the best. No denying that I feel partly responsible for most of it.

As soon as I opened my door I bump head first into someone else, and I stumble backwards a little while rubbing my forehead.

"I'm sorry Janet."

I look up to see Jeffrey with a dozen of roses in his hand.

My eyes flutter as I glance between him, and the roses.

"What are you doing here Jeffrey?" I ask folding my arms across my chest with an unpleasant glare on my face.

"Wanted to give you these." He says smiling as he hands the flowers over to me. I smirk as I take the vase from him, and sit them over on the coffee table.

"Thanks, but why are you giving me flowers?"

I ask stepping outside closing the door behind me.

Jeffrey scrunches up his nose, furrowing his brows as if I asked a stupid question.

"I'm your friend, aren't I allowed to give my friend flowers?" He asks holding out his hands.

I pause as I glare at him with my lips pursed.

"A FRIEND, shows up to one of the most important nights of my life."

Jeffrey rubs the back of his neck following me as I walk to my car.

"I had something important going on that evening, I'm sorry." He says trailing behind me.

I shake my head as I unlock my car door, before getting in I pause with my hand resting on top of the door.

"Maybe you shouldn't post your whole day on instagram because if throwing ones at a strippers is important, than you need to get a life."

I get in my car, and close the door before he had a chance to speak.

I crank up my car, and rev the engine. Before I pull off I roll down the window.

"And for the record, I hate roses. If you really cared about me you would have remembered I don't like flowers. Chocolate would have been a better choice."

I roll the window back up as I back out of my parking lot.

As I made my way to Toni's place I honestly didn't expect for her to be there. But when I pulled up in her parking lot I see her car as well as a black Ashton Martin.

"Finally." I whisper to myself as I make no attempt to hide my excitement. Just glad she's okay, I jog up to her front door and I ring the doorbell.

After waiting for a few seconds, the door opens. And a tall, dark skinned, man with the most beautifully lined facial hair I've ever seen opens the door.

"Hello, is Toni here?" I ask glancing behind him, and I see a few Gucci suitcases, and a oversized Gucci purse.

He leans over trying to block my view, and he crosses his arms.
