I see Julian rush off, and now I'm left staring at a room full of kids. Some stare right back at me, and others just don't seem to care.
The teacher glances at me before turning around. "Are you our new student?"
"Yeah."
He points me over to a desk next to an Asian with his headphones in. He's one of the ones who didn't even bother to look up at me. He seems to be too preoccupied on his phone. In fact, most people in this class are on their phone.
I make my way over to my desk. When I hesitantly sit, Asian finally looks up from whatever he's looking at. He nods his head as a greeting. "Hey."
I give him a small smile. "Hey."
Asian guy smiles back. "So. I'll give you the run down of this class: Basically, you can do whatever you want in this class. Do the work or don't. Teacher doesn't really give a shit either way. As long as you pass his tests."
I nod. "Sounds good."
"Yeah, alright." He looks back at his phone before remembering something and looking at me again. "My name's AJ, by the way."
I give him a confused look. "Like just the letters A and J?"
"Nah. But I'll keep my full name a secret for right now. We're not on that level yet." I laugh a little and his lips quirk up into a smile. "What's your name?"
"M."
"Just the letter?"
I smirk at him. "No, but I'll keep a full name a secret. We're not on that level yet."
Now AJ laughs. "Wow, you're a smart one M."
"Oh, I know I am."

AJ and I spend the rest of the period talking, not bothering to take notes. AJ told me that Mr. Jones gets all his test material form the textbook, so it shouldn't be that hard to pass. I end up having a class with Julian, but we can't talk because everyone's already picked their seats, so I'm stuck in the back. But now it's lunch. What I've been dreading the whole day. It's one thing being the new person who doesn't know where to sit, but to be that person's and then having my problem where I can't eat is going to weird people out.
I don't head towards the cafeteria. I mean, Julian did offer to let me lunch with him. And I don't know anyone else. And if I can't find Julian, it won't matter. It's not like to sit some where to eat.
I walk towards what I think is the track, smiling slightly when I see it. Then my eyes focus on a group of people by the track sitting at a table in the shade of a tree. When I get closer I see Julian and a couple other people. Julian spots me first and his breaks into a smile.
"Mia! Hey."
"Uh, hi." I say as I stand awkwardly.
He scoots over on the table. "You can sit if you want."
I carefully sit next to him, and then take a look at the other people sittings with us. There's the guy who was with Julian in the morning, a girl with pink hair, a Latin looking guy with glasses and braces, and another girl with these braids in. They all kind of look at me too.
"So this is Mia, who I was telling you guys about."
I give them a small wave. Pink haired girl laughs at my awkward attempt at being friendly.
After she's done she decides to properly introduce herself. "I'm Lana."
The rest of them follow suit. Glasses is George, the guy Julian was with is Foster, and the braided girl is Andrea. Andrea is apparently the other junior on the track team.
I easily fall into conversation with them. They're all pretty nice, too nice almost, but mine, Julian and Drea's sarcasm balances it out. Lunch flies by without me even realizing the forty minutes have passed. When the bell rings, my eyes widen a little bit. Everyone waves their goodbyes, except Julian who stays with me and watches everyone leave.
"Don't you when class Julian?"
"Yeah I do. With you. Come on, let's go."
I follow him away from the track and back into the quad, waiting as we head towards the foreign language building. I'm taking Spanish, but I do t know how much different it is here then at my old school. I hope not too different.
That old school was terrible. All the counselors were nosy. Your friends were awful too. They were always trying to get you to eat yet talking about carbs and-
"I just realized you didn't eat anything for lunch." Julian says suddenly, snapping me out of my thoughts.
I bite the edge of my nail, a bad habit I've never changed. "Mmm Yeah I'm not that hungry today. First day , and all that."
"Oh okay. I get that."
Except he doesn't. He doesn't know that I won't eat today or he next day or the next. He doesn't know what it feels like to feel so stuck in this ugly body. He doesn't know what it's like to be trapped and angry and wanting to escape.
But do I tell him this? No. Of course not. I just smile at him, because I could never tell someone everything I think.
"Ready to go to Spanish?"
AN: Hey so quick note, I'm going back to name all the chapters. I realize it's probably better that way. Hope ya enjoyed. Vote comment, all that Jazz. - MM
