Thursday went by pretty fast. The classes were the same, nothing really interesting happened. Becca was in none of my classes, but I had English class with Sam. He talked about the party on Friday as we packed up our things to get to lunch. It was at his house. Apparently, he usually had these parties every Friday.
As we walked out of the classroom we all turned in our essays. I was surprised I even found time to finish it last night. As I had guessed, my parents were pretty upset with me for coming home so late. I told them I had met Sam and that we ate a pizza together and my phone had died. All lies. They let me go this time but warned me if it ever happened again I would get grounded. Sometimes I felt like I lived the life of a prisoner.
All day I was thinking of Becca. About all the things she had told me. I still had so many things I wanted to know about her. I wondered if I was ever going to figure them out.
At lunch, Becca was nowhere to be seen. I questioned if she was even at school today, I hadn't seen her at all.
I ended up sitting with the guys again, I figured this was going to be the standard procedure now. I guess I had become part of their group, even though I didn't have anything in common with any of them. I felt like the black sheep in a herd of white ones. But for some reason, they seemed to like me, and I guess there could be worse people to hang out with for my sake.
After lunch I had gym class, my first at East High. We were playing basketball and things were going pretty well. I had always enjoyed basketball. I used to play it all the time with my dad when we lived in London, but I hadn't even picked up a ball since we moved.
When we were done the coach called my name and gestured for me to come to him.
I ran over and as soon I was near him, he laid a hand firmly on my shoulder.
"Blake, I got to say you're very good at this game" he said, not breaking eye contact with me.
"I want you to join the school's team" he said. My eyes grew wide.
"Wait what? Are you sure?" I asked in surprise. I did not see that coming.
"Absolutely, you know how to handle that ball" he said and paused.
"Think about it, okay?" he then walked away leaving me completely shocked.
I went over to Sam immediately and told him what the coach had said.
Sam's eyes widened, and his mouth opened.
"Dude! You should totally join! It would be so awesome to have you!" he said loudly.
"Wait, you're on the team?" I asked him.
"Yeah, Troye and Alex are too" he said and looked over at the twins who were standing not far away.
I pictured myself in a basketball uniform running after the ball every week and playing matches against other teams. Honestly, I didn't hate the picture. I felt like it would be fun, and a great way to get some exercise into my everyday as well. It was no secret I could defiantly need to build up some muscle.
"I'll think about it" I said and smiled at Sam.
"Yes! Do that. Trust me you'll love it. Plus, we could really use you, you're really good" Sam said and hit me on the shoulder.

The gym class was over before I knew it and I went to my locker to get my things before heading home. I couldn't wait to get home and shower.
When I turned the corner, I discovered Becca was standing in front of my locker holding my jacket in her arms, the one she had borrowed last night. I smiled at the sight of her and walked over to her.
"Hey" I said as I approached her.
"Hey" she said. She looked me up and down and formed a small smirk on her lips.
"Gym class?" she asked.
"Yeah" I chuckled, putting my gym back down on the floor.
"I just wanted to return this" she said, handing me my leather jacket.
"Thanks for letting me borrow it"
"No problem" I said and smiled. We stood awkwardly for a while without knowing what to say to each other.
"Well, uh, I guess I'll see you then" she said and turned around to walk away.
"Wait, Becca!" I half yelled.
She turned back around and looked at me with a questioning look.
"Uhm..." I said slowly, not knowing how to ask her. I was not good at this.
"I was just wondering. There's this party tomorrow at Sam's house, and I wanted to ask if you wanted to go with me" I said, feeling that tightness in my stomach again.
She licked her lips and looked down at the floor before looking up at me again. I got the feeling that she was uncomfortable.
"That's very sweet Blake, but I don't go to those things. I'm sorry" she said and bit her lip. I felt my stomach drop and I wanted to burry myself in a hole.
"Oh, that's okay. It's fine" was the only thing I could think of saying. I was disappointed, I really wanted her to go with me.
"Sorry. I have to go but I'll see you" she said and turned around again, walking away a little too fast.
"See you" I said, even though she was already gone. I was left alone in the hallway wondering what had just happened.
