21. Monday

I arrived at the school Monday morning, feeling excited to see Becca again. After all that happened this weekend, I just couldn't wait to talk to her again. I also knew I had to talk to Sam. I just hoped he wasn't going to be mad at me about leaving his party. I made my way through the crowed hallways trying to find my locker. This place was still kind of a maze to me. As I walked through the many people, I couldn't help but search for a blue haired girl too.

When I finally got to my locker and tried to figure out which books I needed, I heard the sound of my new, favorite voice, behind me.

"Hi" Becca said and smiled. She got on her tippy-toes and hugged me, and I instantly hugged her back.

She looked great as always. She was wearing a short yellow checkered skirt, with a black sweater. She wore her dark lipstick as usual, but her hair was in a ponytail. I had come to love that look on her, you could see so much more of her face. You could also see the tattoo on her neck, which I still couldn't help but wonder what meant.

"You look great" I complimented her as she leaned away from the hug. I had never been good at talking to girls, I had only ever had one girlfriend, but with Becca the words just came naturally.

"Thank you. You don't look too bad yourself" she said and smiled at me. I would never ever get tired of her smile.

"Still wearing the white shirts, I see" she said and looked me up and down. I laughed.

"Gosh, you really hate these shirts, don't you?" I asked with a smirk.

"I do" she said and laughed.

"Well if you hate them so much, why don't you take me shopping then?" I joked.

"You know what? I might!" Becca said with a laugh and crossed her arms.

"Great!" I said and crossed my arms too.

"It's a date then!" she nodded her head in a confirming way and we both started laughing.

"So, we're still on for studying after school, right?" she asked when we were done laughing.

"Yes of course" I smiled at her.

"Great, I'm just letting you know now, that I'm not the best at physics and math, so please have patience with me" she said and laughed nervously.

"Don't worry, it's okay. We'll figure it out" I assured her, which made her form a small smile. The bell suddenly rang, and everyone started to pack up and go to their classrooms.

"Well, I'll meet you after school then?" Becca asked, taking a step backwards.

"Yeah, I'll just see you at your house?" I asked her.

"Yes sure, I'll see you then!" she said and walked away to her class.

I went the other direction to my own class, English class to be exact. When I went in the room the first thing I noticed was Sam sitting in the back of the room. I had totally forgot that I had English with him. His eyes quickly met mine and he gestured for me to sit next to him. I went over to the empty chair next to him and sat down. Before any us could speak, Mr. Robinson walked in and slammed his books on the desk. A gesture he often used instead of telling us to shut up.

The class went by pretty fast. As I expected, nothing interesting happened. English class had never been my favorite. Me and Sam were the last to leave the class room. As we walked out, Sam grabbed my shoulder.

"Why have you been ignoring me all weekend bro?" Sam asked as I turned around towards him.

"I haven't. I've just been really... busy" I said, knowing that he would easily look through me. I was a bad liar.

"I just wanted to know why you ditched my party?" he said, I could tell he was little offended about it. "I searched around but I couldn't find you, and when I tried to call you, you didn't pick up" he continued.

"I'm sorry, I wanted to stay but... my parents, they wanted me to be home really early" it wasn't technically a lie, but it wasn't the truth either.

I didn't know how he would react. I mean, he knew I was 18. He probably wondered why my parents were still controlling my life like that.

"Oh well, that sucks man. I hope you can stay longer next time then" he said.

I was surprised with how well he took it. Sam kept coming on as the badass-jerk-sports guy when we were around others, when in reality he was a really nice, down to earth, guy.

"Yeah, me too" I answered him.

"So, have you heard the good news?" Sam asked, as we walked down the hallway. I was instantly confused.

"No, what happened?" I asked him.

"What? You haven't found out?" I was getting a little nervous now. I shook my head in denial.

"Blake, you're in the final for the basketball team try-out" Sam said excitedly.

"Really?! How come I wasn't told that?" I said, my head flooding over with questions.

"Well maybe if you had picked up your phone this weekend, you would've known" Sam said with a cheeky grin. I chuckled at him.

"Wow, that's great. I actually didn't think that would happen" I admitted.

"Are you kidding me? You were great! I know you're going to blow the coach's mind again today after school" he said.

"Wait, is the final try-out today?" I asked. Now I was really getting nervous. I had no time to prepare.

"Yeah, after school" Sam answered.

"But I have no time to practice, I mean I don't even know how to-"

"Don't worry man" Sam interrupted me, before I could have a panic attack.

"It's going to be alright, just promise me you'll be there after school" Sam said and stopped in front of his classroom.

I nodded at him and went my way to my next class. My heart was beating fast, I was so nervous, and when I remembered I also had promised Becca to study I panicked even more. Hopefully the game would be done by 17.
