15. The party

As I parked my car outside of Sam's house, I could see the place was already packed. I could hear the music pumping loud from the house, and I felt the urge to drive off again. I really didn't have the energy for this. I kept questioning myself why I was here, but I couldn't quite find an answer.

I debated whether I should just drive home again. My parents weren't exactly pleased to hear I was going to a party, but I had lied to them and said that it was going to be a small get together with no alcohol. So many lies.

I think I was doing this mostly to piss off my parents, but also because I wanted to get to know the guys a little better.

The fact that Sam hadn't cut me off yet now that he knew I liked Becca, had made me respect him a lot more.

I took a deep breath and got out of my car. I walked inside the house and almost gasped at how many people there were. From what it looked like, it was so many more than a hundred. There were even people dancing in the garden. How did anyone think that this was fun?

After walking around for about 10 minutes looking confused and ridiculous, I suddenly felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned around and discovered it was Sam, a very drunk one at that.

"Heyyy man! I was starting to worry if you were going to show!" he yelled over the loud music.

"The alcohol and the hot chicks are in the living room, so knock yourself out!" Sam said and gave me a pat on the shoulder before walking off again.

I gazed around at all the very drunk people that were here, and I sighed. I made my way through the packed hallway and found myself in the living room. People with red cups were everywhere dancing and yelling.

I didn't really enjoy alcohol that much. I had only had it two times I think, but right in that moment, with all these people around me, I really felt the need for something to take the edge off.I got myself a red cup and filled it up with beer from the big keg in the center of the room. When I looked up again I saw Sophie standing right in front of me.

"Hey!" she yelled and smiled at me.

"Hi" I yelled back.

"Fill mine up too?" she asked and handed me her red cup. I did what I was asked and gave it back to her. She was staring at me with her blue eyes while twirling her blonde hair with her finger. For some reason she was still in her cheerleader uniform, and it made me wonder how uncomfortable it must be to wear that a whole day.

"So, how did the try-out go today?" she asked and took a sip of her beer.

"It went well, the guys are pretty sure I'm going to join the team" I said and took a sip too.

"I'm sure you are! You're really good" she said and bit her bottom lip slightly.

"Thanks" I said nervously and took a big gulp of my beer this time. This stuff tasted better than I remembered. I wasn't even old enough to drink here in the states, I'm pretty sure none of us were. If my dad saw me now he would flip out. With that image in my head I took yet another gulp of my beer.

"Oh my god, I love this song! Dance with me?" Sophie yelled when a loud upbeat song came on. She gave me no time to respond before she dragged me out in the middle of all the people dancing and started jumping around and singing along. I drank the last of my beer and immediately regretted it when I felt myself getting dizzier.

I started to dance along with her as she put her hand on my waist and moved a lot closer to me. She moved her hips towards mine, making me feel really uncomfortable. We danced for a while until we were both out of breath after the third song.

"Come with me" she said in my ear and took my hand. She led me to the corner of the living room and sat us down on the large couch.

"Wait here" she said and then disappeared into the crowd again. I took out my phone and looked at the time. 22:30 pm. Thankfully no calls or texts from my parents.

"Here you go" I heard Sophie's voice speak and I looked up to see her with two red cups, holding one of them out for me.

I didn't even say thanks, I just took it out of her hand and chugged half of it in one go. Oh god, what was happening to me.

She sat down very close next to me and started to talk about the basketball team and how excited she was to cheer for me. We talked for awhile and by the time it was 23:00 pm I had finished my third beer. Sophie was getting even closer to me and suddenly I felt her hand on my thigh.

"You're really cute" she whispered in my ear all of a sudden. She was drunk, and I was getting very tipsy, and very dizzy.

She leaned in slowly and planted a kiss on my jawline and traveled down my neck. Her lips felt weird and cold from the beer she just had. I sat frozen in my seat until I suddenly felt her hand creep further up my leg. I stood up instantly and ran my hand over my face. What was I doing?

"I-I'm sorry Sophie" I said and walked out of the living room. I looked around at all the people and I felt the need to get out. I needed air. I went outside, and it felt like I could finally breathe again. My head was spinning, and I had a weird feeling in my stomach.

I didn't know what to do with myself. As I stood in silence looking down the dark road there was only one thing on my mind. I got out my phone and dialed the one person I wanted to talk to right know.

I waited for her to answer and when she finally did, a wave of happiness washed over me.
