I stood waiting for Becca, at my car outside the school. We had agreed to meet, and drive to the diner she had talked about, together after school to study. It really felt like we were becoming a real couple. Somehow it was still so surreal to me that this girl actually wanted to date me.

I yawned as I looked at all the people walking out of the school, laughing with their friends. I hadn't gotten any sleep last night because of Tobys attack. Thankfully he had slept all night through, with my mother right by his side. But I know she didn't get any sleep either.

He had felt a lot better this morning, at least that's what it looked like. But Toby never really showed signs of feeling anything, and he never spoke much. I always wondered why he seemed to be so different from me and our parents, but I guess over time I just gave up trying to find out. It was just the way he was.

A smile formed on my face as I suddenly discovered Becca, walking towards me with a smile on her face too. "Hey baby" she said and placed a kiss on my cheek, when she arrived. I felt warm inside at the choice of her words.

"Baby?" I couldn't help but smile like an idiot. "Sorry, is it weird that I called you that?" she asked and scrunched up her nose.

"No not at all. It's kind of hot" I admitted and looked down at her. "Oh really?" she slowly put her hands on my chest while biting her lip.

I realized in that moment that I had never seen anything as adorable and sexy, as Becca biting her lip. An urge to grab her and kiss her deeply came over me. But I decided it was best to control myself and wait till we were in a place less public, and where no parents could barge in.

"Yeah" I said, but my voice came out all hoarse and weird. "Uhm, we should probably get going" I said and opened my car door for her. "Sure. But don't think I'm done teasing you once we get somewhere alone" she smirked and slid past me, into the car. "Oh, I won't object to that" I half whispered as I closed the door for her.

I got in the driver's seat and started driving towards the diner, while Becca guided me the whole way. It was only 10 minutes away from the school, but it was located in a part of town I had never been to before. It was somewhat quiet around, but there were still a few people sitting in the diner. "A.J's Diner" it read, outside on the sign. We walked in and found a booth to sit in, right by the window. We were lucky to get inside before it started pouring rain outside.

"I love rain" Becca said in a quiet voice as we sat and waited on our food. I questioned if she wanted me to have heard that or not. "Why?" I decided to ask.

"I just love how cleansing it is you know? It's like it cleanses everything, every bit of dirt, ground or stain lying around. The air is just completely new when it's over" she said and traced her fingers over the rain drops, pouring down on the window.

Somehow, I could tell that there was a much more deeper meaning to her answer, but I decided to not dig further into it. I wanted at least one date with her where I didn't remind her of her not so positive life situation, but where she could just forget about it all for a minute and be with me.

Our food arrived quickly, and we decided to start studying to get it over with as fast as possible. We sat for a moment eating and reading in silence, the only noise breaking it was the sound of the rain. I was lost in the world of our physics book, but every now and then I couldn't help but look over at Becca and watch her as she chewed on her fries and frowned at the contexts of her physics book.

"Okay I can't do this anymore" Becca suddenly announced and dug into her bag. "I can't do this in silence, I need music. I can't focus without it" she said and put her phone and tangled black earphones on the table. I couldn't help but smile at her actions.

She untangled the earphones and connected them to her phone while putting the left earpiece in her ear. She took a deep breath and tried to regain her focus on the book, but the frown quickly returned on her face.

"Can I listen too?" I asked and picked up the right earpiece that was lying next to her phone. I didn't want to just sit here in complete silence. I didn't know Becca's music taste that well, but the last time she had played something for me, I liked it a lot.

"Sure" she said and smiled at me. I put in the earpiece and my head was filled with a gloomy and dark sense of soft rock beat. I hadn't really heard something like it before but somehow, I really liked it. "Who is this?" I asked and looked over at her.

"It's a band called The Smiths. They're my favorite" she said with a glow in her eyes. Every time Becca talked about something she liked; she got that same glow in her eyes. It was probably on top of my list of the most beautiful things in the world.

"It's good" I said and nodded my head slightly. "Really? Wow, I didn't think you would like them" she said with a grin. "What? I listen to other stuff than The Fray" I gave her a cheeky smile.

"Okay Mister Top 40" she said and rolled her eyes, teasingly. I shook my head at her trying to act offended, but I couldn't help but laugh at her joke. She saw right through me, there was no hiding it.

"Oh, by the way. I got you something" I said and put my book down to dig into my backpack.

I pulled out the small envelope I had gotten for her and passed it to her on the table. "What? Blake what are you doing?" she asked while studying the envelope, like she had never seen one before.

"It's just a gift, from me to you. Because I like you" I admitted and started fumbling with my fingers under the table. She looked between me and the envelope a few times, before she finally opened it and gasped loudly when she saw what was inside it for her.
