Chapter 32

Shadow's P.O.V.

I woke up to my phone ringing obnoxiously. I groaned as Sonic was sleeping on top of me. I stretched to the bedside table and got my phone. I was blinded by the bright light and quickly turned it down. I then saw that the number was Rouge's and silently growled.

"What do you want?" I barked.

"Hi hun! Are you enjoying yourself~?" Rouge said with the sassy voise of hers.

"What. Do. You. Want?" I ignored her question.

"Well, since you asked SO nicely, G.U.N. called us for a 'very' important meeting." She emphasized the word 'very' ironically.

"At this hour? And why didn't they call me?" I looked at Sonic, who was softly snoring on my stomach and rubbed his ear gently. Sonic leaned on my hand and purred

"Yes, right now and they didn't because they were afraid of you yelling at them." She chuckled.

"They should be." I mumbled and scratched Sonic's neck. Sonic purred even louder and raised his head slightly.

"What's that?" Rouge chuckled.

"What's what?" I asked, waking up Sonic. He looked at me sleepily and shook his head questionably. I smiled at him and kissed his forehead.

"Does Sonic have a cat or something?" She laughed. I rolled my eyes and sarcastically laughed.

"What time is the meeting?" I growled, not wanting to talk at that time.

"In ten minutes." She said happily. "I will see you then! See ya!" She hang up. I put the phone aside and nuzzled Sonic.

"Who was on the call?" Sonic asked as he rubbed his eyes. I explained that it was really early and that I had to go at G.U.N. for something.

"When will you come back?" He nuzzled me. "I'll be alone." He made a cute face.

I blushed and chuckled at his actions. "It won't take long, don't worry. Just lay down and I'll be back in no time." I kissed his forehead and got up. He took my place and hugged my pillow while purring.

I went to the bathroom and dressed up with the uniform.

I closed the door behind me slowly, not to annoy Sonic and then chaos controlled outside G.U.N.

"I knew you'd come early." I heard Rouge say, as she was waiting outside the door. "How's living with your boyfriend hun?" She asked me happily. I ignored her and went inside the building.

"Agent Shadow. The commander is waiting for you in the meeting room." Said the secretary, who was sitting on the counter in the main entrance. I nodded and walked to the meeting room, Rouge slowly catching up.

"You didn't answer my question." She pouted. I glared at her with the meanest expression possible, making her shut her mouth.

We reached the room and opened the doors, the commander was there, waiting patiently for us.

"Agent Shadow. Agent Rouge. We were waiting for your arrival." Said the commander.

We sat down and waited for the commander to tell us what was the reason he called us, but because I wasn't in the mood and since I promised Sonic that I wasn't going to be late, I asked him myself.

"Why did you call us commander? What is SO important that cannot wait until the morning?" I asked annoyed. I didn't care if I sounded disrespectful, I wasn't his soldier, he's nothing without me, so I was never afraid to speak up.

The commander shook his head and sighed. "We've been informed that Dr. Eggman had a fatal injury, causing him to delay any schemes he has in plan." Said the commander, shocking me and Rouge, but none of us showed it

"And what does that have to do with us?" Rouge asked with a serious expression.

"You will have to sneak in his base and finish him off." He informed us. I couldn't believe in my ears, we had to kill Eggman.

"But why us? You know very well that I specifically said that I wouldn't kill a single living being in any of my missions. This is nit an exception." Rouge growled, visibly frustrated from the commander's orders.

"I will do it." I said.

"What?" She looked at me shocked.

"I have no problem killing our enemy. Just tell me when and I will do it." I crossed my arms.

"Good. I will give you more details about your mission tomorrow. You can have his day off." The commander said satisfied.

I nodded and chaos controlled at Sonic's house, I saw Sonic awake while still hugging my pillow. I smiled and went inside.

"You can't sleep?" I asked in a low voise, not wanting to startle him. Sonic's ears perked up and he turned around smiling.

"Finally you're here. The bed feels empty without you." He smiled happily. I laughed softly and undressed then set the uniform on the chair and laid next to Sonic.

He hugged me and nuzzled me, happily purring as I rubbed his back. "What did they want to tell you at that time?" He asked me sleepily.

"I'll tell you tomorrow, okay?" I kissed his forehead lovingly.

Sonic yawned and nodded as he closed his eyes, slowly falling asleep. I stayed awake until his breathing became steady.

A few minutes later, I started feeling tired. I closed my eyes and nuzzled Sonic, making him silently purr. Soon, I fell asleep to Sonic's purring.
