jeon jungkook entered his home after a long day out celebrating with his friends. taehyung seemed so very happy at the arcade when he told him about how the baby scan went. the smile on his face made jungkook feel euphoric because it's been a while since taehyung felt truly happy.

after taking a cool shower, he opened the fridge to find out that he was out of food. he checked all the cupboards and the pantry but he was all out. jungkook slipped on his jacket and grabbed his wallet, keys and phone. locking the door behind him, he left his house and drove his car to the nearby supermarket.

it was quite late but thankfully it was still open. he hurriedly rushed down the aisles and threw a bunch of food in his trolley since the tannoy announced that the store would be closing soon.

he payed the clerk and took his bags to his car. he loaded them in the trunk of his car and locked the back. as he walked around to the front of the car, he heard a familiar voice.

he didn't turn around just yet but rather waited to hear the voice again.

"but i can't leave him, seungjin." the girl said with a soft voice.

"why not? you said you loved me? do you like him, is that why?" the male argued back.

"no, no of course not. i love you, seungjin. i've never had feelings for jeon jungkook. i love you, okay. no one else. i'll figure something out, just give me a little time." she pleaded.

"okay, fine. let's go home now."

he held her hand and led her to wherever "home" was.

jungkook couldn't believe what he just heard. when taehyung's ex, sana, cheated on him, jungkook thought he was overreacting a little as tae wasn't the same person. he didn't even think that it would hurt this bad, knowing that someone you loved lied to you and betrayed you. lisa broke his heart and jungkook felt the emotional wave soon overcome him.

tears stung his eyes and like the softie he was they soon came crashing down. he drove to his house shakily, the car sometimes going on the opposite side of the road because the tears clouded his vision.

he stumbled to his front door and unloaded the grocery bags at a slow pace. occasional sobs escaped his mouth and when he couldn't handle it anymore, he fell on to the couch and clutched on to the pillow as he cried. jungkook cried his heart out, he didn't care if the neighbours could hear him. he cried and cried but no amount of tears could drown him in his sorrows because his sorrows fell deeper than the ocean.

just as he was about to go to his room, his phone beeped indicating a message that had been sent to him. jungkook sighed. he really didn't want to check his phone but instead throw it across the room. he sighed again and then picked it up.

it was a message from chaeyoung. he swiped left and opened the message.

do you wanna go out for dinner tomorrow, maybe? it read.

jungkook knew she had nothing but good intentions and she was more than a good friend but he couldn't. the timing was just so wrong and he didn't have the energy to explain things to her. so he texted back sorry, i'm busy tomorrow and then turned off his phone completely.

he stripped his clothes off, leaving him in just his boxers. he slid under the covers and brought them all the way up to his chin. the curtains were slightly open and so he stared into the night sky.

the stars twinkled brightly and they reminded him of lisa's eyes. the way they would shine and glisten against the sunlight or when he told her something nice.

again, tears cascaded down his cheeks. not elegantly but rather furiously, like a waterfall that was blocked by rocks and then suddenly let free. the tears rushed down his cheeks and there was no stopping them.

jungkook gulped down the glass of water that lay on his bedside table with some sleeping pills. this was the only escape he had from reality. and so minutes later, his weary eyes closed and he fell into a deep slumber as the tears dried up on his cheeks, staining them.
