* FLASHBACK *

" HAYESSS! STOP OH MY GOD! " I scream, jumping off the board.

He tilts his head back in laughter.

I shove his shoulder playfully.

" Come on let's try again! " he says, kicking the board towards you.

" I swear if I break my butt. " I say, stepping on the penny board once again.

" You won't, I promise. " he says as he steps behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist to keep me steady.

I chuckle lightly before Hayes pushes the board forward making me jerk backward.

I let out a small scream, before being balanced again, thanks to Hayes.

" Woah there! " he says, laughing.

" oh my god, I'm going to kill you. " I say, biting back a smile.

He pushes it forward again, but hopping off the board.

I jerk backward, quickly regaining my balance.

I smile to myself as I glide down the road on the board.

" WOOH! I DID I- "

The board comes to a sudden stop making me fall forward, and onto the concrete.

I sit up and look at my hands.

They're all scratched along with the bottom of my arms, and my legs.

Hayes runs to me and helps me up.

" Woah hey, you okay? " he asks, looking at my cuts.

" I'm fine. " I say shaking my arms a bit to relieve the pain.

" Good, wanna take a break? " he asks taking my hand in his.

" Nah, I want to try again! " I say turning around and grabbing the board once again.

" So you want to break your butt? " Hayes says laughing.

" ha ha ha. " I mock, sticking my tongue out.

I drop the board, and step on.

I look ahead, and take a big breath in.

I push forward and I start moving.

I smile proudly at myself, and push again, harder.

I hear clapping in the distance and I mentally tap myself on the back.

I see a bump in the road, a little ahead and jump off the board.

I stop and let out a sigh, and happy I didn't go past the bump.

I turn around and I see Hayes smiling widely at me.

I smile in return and bow.

He laughs before running over to me.

" Okay, let's go get some ice for your legs. " he says throwing an arm over my shoulder.

....

Once we get to his house, he jogs over to the freezer and grabs an ice pack and hands it to me.

We go out to his backyard and sit on swing bench thing.

" It's so beautiful. " I smile, looking at the sky as the sun sets.

" Yeah. " he says.

I turn to look at him to notice he was staring at me the whole time.

I blush, and turn away quickly.
