Chapter 8

   My first day at the clinic wasn't as bad as i had thought.It brought about a lot of feelings;excitement and nervousness but I managed to stay confident.

After sometime;i got to learn about some of the supplies,how to weigh an animal,how to rightly hold a pet,and how to get everything ready whenever Auntie Gracie is taking blood samples from the animals.

Auntie Gracie made work so easy for me that she always tried to explain things i didn't understand.

It was my day off so i decided to go visit Erica since she would be leaving for Italy in a few days.Erica got reconnected with her father who happens to be an Italian and he insisted she come spend some time with him before going to college.

"What's up girl?i've missed you."I said hugging her

"You've been too busy that you don't have time for me anymore."She stated

"Come on,don't sound like that. I've been very busy at work that i barely have time for myself."I tried explaining

"If i didn't text you that I'd be travelling to Italy,would you have come?"She asked

"I'd have to knock some sense into you.what on earth would make you think I'll forget my bestie?"

She pulled out a black duffel bag from her wardrobe "You're crazy Karen."

"So,"I began " Are you done packing?"

"Yeah,I'm trying to recheck my stuffs to be sure i don't forget anything."

"You sound like you're spending forever in Italy."
"How's granny taking it?"

"She's been sulking since last night.she's not happy with my mom for letting me travel to Italy."

"Aww"I cooed "She's going to miss you."

"Definitely.Since my Mom moved to England I've never been away for more than five days and now I'm not only going to spend over a week with my Dad,I'm also going to England for college."She responded

"Is there anything i can help you with?"I asked her

She smiled at me "Yes sure,please help me fold these clothes into this box."

I was helping Erica fold her clothes when i spotted something that got my heart racing.

"Oh my God."I gasped

"What's wrong?"She asked as she noticed my sudden reaction

"I can't believe i didn't notice my period is a week late.I saw your sanitary pads and i remembered."

"You almost gave me a heart attack."She sighed "It could be hormonal imbalance or stress."

"I don't think so."I replied

She shrugged her shoulders "I honestly think your hormones are messing with you unless you've had unprotected sex."

She studied my reaction to what she just said and gasped"Karen! Don't tell me you had unprotected sex and didn't do anything about it."

"Yeah i did but I'm sure he didn't cum inside of me."I said

"Oh my God Karen you're unbelievable."

My heart was racing,so many things were going through it right now."So what now?"

"What do you mean by what now?"She snapped at me "You need to get tested right away."

I didn't have to take a bus,the nearest pharmacy store happened to be a ten minute walk from Erica's house.I walked to the girl at the counter holding three boxes of pregnancy test kit.She kept staring at me like i had grown three heads but i didn't care,I just wanted to pay for the kits and get the hell out of here.

After paying for them,I put them in my bag and exited the pharmacy.
On my way home i felt like all eyes were on me and they could see through my bag.I was more than excited when i got home and no one was home.

I hurried to my room,locked myself in and also locked the bathroom door.
I carefully read the instructions and took the test.

While i waited for the results,my heart was beating rapidly.After a few minutes I looked at all the test results and they read positive .
My heart dropped.How could i be pregnant now.I have been careless and stupid to let this happen to me now.

How would i break the news to my parents?What would people see me as?A certified loser i guess...I'm so screwed.
