Chapter 21

I've been looking forward to this day for the last few months. My little man was clocking three,he was growing too fast for my liking.
Call me selfish or whatever, i wanted him to remain my little man as i fondly call him.I didn't want him to grow up so fast and run off to highschool,start dating then go to college, get a job and start a career before settling down.

I would have to share him with another woman and the thought of that made me feel like shoving him back into my womb.

His first birthday party was in Chicago. It was a small outdoor party so we used the entire backyard of the apartment complex. I invited few friends i met at culinary school,Aiden  and Alice invited friends from work,church,our neighbours and some of my mother's relatives in Chicago.

His second birthday was here in New york.I was still trying to settle down so i didn't throw a party for him,instead I got him a present, baked him a sponge Bob cake and we had dinner.

My living room was covered in Batman's decor with red and blue balloons.Future's Batman cake was placed on the dining table I had already covered with table cover. Molly and i were still busy in the kitchen trying to prepare dessert for the guests while Anne got Future dressed in a blue ripped denim trouser,a white polo with the inscription 'young wild and 3' in front and 'Future @3' at the back with a black converse.

Soon our guests started arriving.Chase kept an eye on the birthday boy and also assisted Valerie in entertaining the guests while Molly, Anne and i got somethings sorted out before we went to get ready.

Thankfully; the party ended and i was more than happy that those i invited turned up for Future. They were properly entertained because i made enough provision for food, drinks including beer,juice and wine,dessert etc.

As i was cleaning up after the party,Valerie offered to assist me.
"It's getting late Valerie, I'll finish up." I told her

"Don't worry about me,I drove here and I can get home whenever I want.After all i offered to help you." She said with a smile

"Thank you so much Vee,i really appreciate."

We continued cleaning up in silence. We were done picking up empty bottles and i was  loading the dish washer."It's beautiful, as beautiful as you." I said

"What?"

"Your engagement ring,it's beautiful." I complimented

"Oh,this.Thank you." She blushed

I continued with what i was doing "You're welcome."

"So your fiancee,does he live here in New York?"

"Yeah he does but he's always up and about due to the nature of his job."

"Oh!" Was all i managed to say.

"You know,i really admire you a lot.From the first day i met you at the mall."

"Really?"

"Yeah."

"Thank you so much.I didn't have a good impression about you though."

"For real?"

"Yes,i always thought you were a spoilt rich kid. Although Chase told me countless times that you're a nice person."

"I get that all the time." Valerie laughed

"How do you do this all by yourself?" She asked me

"Do what?"

"Being a single mom.What about his dad?"

"Wow!i didn't see that coming." I chuckled

"Well,i don't like to talk about my baby's daddy and as for the bills,i have a job that puts food on my table and pays my bills and of course i bake during my spare time." I explained

"Wow!that's nice.keep it up."

"Thanks dear."

"You know,this is the first time we're having a proper conversion asides our usual hello."

I was about to reply her when Future interrupted us.He looked really tired from today's party as he rubbed his sleepy eyes.

"Hey sweetie, do you need anything?" I asked him as i squatted to meet his level

"I want to pee-pee." He replied

I lifted him up and carried him over my shoulder.

I looked over at Valerie "I'd be back,give me a few minutes."

"Sure,no problem."She replied

With that i exited the kitchen.
