Chapter 30

I fidgeted with my cellphone in my hands for close to ten minutes, contemplating on whether to dial the number I just typed in or not. The sooner I put the call through, the better for my fragile heart.
Chase came over to my apartment the previous day, after discussing with him, he suggested I paid Paul a visit.

He said Paul doesn't seem to know about my child's existence or paternity and it wouldn't be right to tell his soon-to-be wife about it first without letting him know.
He helped me to get Paul's number from his friend who's Paul's business associate and asked me to call him first before going to his office.

I finally clicked the green call button on my phone and he picked up on the first ring, almost immediately.

"Hello?"

No response.

"Paul, you there?"

"It's Cameron," He corrected me,"What do you want?"

"Uhm, I... It's me Ka-"

"Stop stammering Karen, state your business."

"What?How did you know it was me?"

"It might have been ages, but i still recognize your voice. What do you want Karen? I don't have time, I'm busy."

"Please, I want to see you," I pleaded. "It's really urgent and important," I quickly added.

"What for?"

"I'd rather not talk about it over the phone. Spare me a few minutes, I won't take your time."

"Okay."

"Okay? like you'd see me?" I couldn't hide the fact that I was excited and I'm sure he noticed it.

"I'll text you my office address. Thursday,2:00pm."

Before I could say anything, he disconnected the call. I don't know why I was excited when he agreed to see me. I guess it was because after seeing him, my heart would feel light and I'd get to talk to my sister about everything.

"How did it go?" Molly asked me the moment I stepped into the sitting room.

"It wasn't as hard as I thought."

"That means he agreed to meet you?" She guessed.

"Yeah." I sighed.

"That's great!"

"I know, but I'm scared."

"Scared? Of what, him?"

"No! I'm not scared of him. It's not like I'm scared, I'm just nervous."

"Well, it's okay to feel nervous." She came over to me,"But you have to keep your emotions in check. Don't cry in front of him, don't yell at him or anything, just do as Chase instructed you and you'd be fine."She assured me.

"Thanks Mo, you're the best," I hugged her."Let me quickly get ready for work. "I said before strolling into my bedroom to change into my work clothes.

I know it's very short, I promise the next chapter would be longer than this.
