Chapter 1

"We're going to the hospital to visit your father.If you still want to bake,you have to be fast about it because we don't have all day"mom said to me.

"Mom,could you please help me check this out?"I asked,placing the strawberry cupcakes i just finished baking on the kitchen island.

"Sure"
"Mmhh,it tastes really good.your father would love it...strawberry is his favourite flavour"She said as she licked her fingers.

My dad had an accident at work few days ago and he has been at the hospital.it wasn't really bad but his leg was fractured.

Mom had prepared his favourite meal;macaroni sauce and barbecue chicken while i made strawberry cupcakes for him

*At the hospital*

"Hey dad,how are you doing?"

"I'm great.it still hurts but i should be back on my feet in a few weeks "He replied smiling as he tried sitting up.

"Easy there.i brought you your favourite"I said,placing the box of cupcakes and the bag containing his food down.

"Where's Ian?"I asked.
"He just stepped out...you didn't meet him outside?"
"No"
"Where's your mother?"Dad asked
"Oh mom,she went to see the doctor.i'm sure she'll be with us shortly"

I was dishing out food for my father when my brother walked in.

"Woah!look who we have here"He said as he stole a piece of cake.

"Ian!put that back,I made them for dad alone"I whined.

"You what?!"He shrieked,choking on a piece of cake.

"You heard me right"

Dad sat on his bed laughing hard as Ian whined about how i didn't know how to bake and how i might have set the whole house ablaze.

Mom came in later and said the doctor had placed dad on more pain killers and a two weeks bed rest.
