Chapter 16

Nearly three weeks had passed since the funeral.Erica was on a long break so she decided to come spend few days with me in Newyork.

Since the moment Molly and i picked her up from the airport,she has been acting cold towards everyone especially Molly and Anne but i explained to them that she wasn't usually this way.

We only had little conversations and then she would play with Future or bury her face in her phone.
I was overwhelmed when she told me she felt like going out.

After getting ready,i packed food,toys and change of clothes for Future and dropped him off with Molly as usual.It didn't take long for us to get a taxi to take us to the cinema.

We got to the movie ticket stand to pay for our tickets when someone caught my attention.
When Erica mentioned going out,i didn't know going to see a movie was on her list.He was putting on a grey shirt that perfectly clung to his chest;showing off his muscles and a dirty blue jean pants to match with a white Nike shoe.

He seemed engrossed in whatever he was discussing with his friends and just when i decided to look away,he turned back and his eyes met mine.Holy shit!,he caught me staring.
Before i could realise what was happening,he started walking towards my direction while his friends trailed behind.

"Hey dear,how have you been?"He asked me

I was about to respond when one  of his friends interrupted me."Chase we're over there."the tattooed green-haired girl told him as she pointed to what seemed like a game zone.

"Okay."He nodded then he turned to face me.
"I'm sorry about that,my sister is always like that."He apologized

"It's fine.I didn't expect to meet you here."

"Same here.Are you alone?"

"No,I'm with a friend."

"Molly?"

I chuckled."You didn't forget her name,did you?"

"Of course not,why would i forget?"

"So you still remember my name?"I asked curiously

"Karen isn't it?"

I couldn't help but laugh."I didn't forget yours either and I'm with a childhood friend,she's Erica."

"So what time is your movie?"

"3:15PM and yours?"

"Same time.I would love to see you after the movie please."He requested

"No problem,have fun."

"You too dear." He said and winked at me

Just after he left,Erica returned with two packs of popcorn and handed me one.
"What took you so long?"I asked as i munched on my popcorn

"I'm sorry,it was a long queue."

We finally got an empty seat to occupy since we had about 20 minutes left before our movie.

"Karen wait up."Chase called after me.

I slowed down so he could catch up with me."You made me run a marathon race."He said panting heavily

"I'm sorry,i didn't hear you earlier.How was your movie?"

"It was epic.Is she Erica?"He asked in a whisper

"Oh,yes.Erica this is Chase,Chase meet Erica my bestfriend."I introduced

"How are you doing?"

"I'm good thanks,and you?"

"Great.Hope she's treating you well?"

"Definitely.She's a good host."

"So where are you visiting from."

"England."

"First time in Newyork huh?"

"Yep."

"So how do you see it?"

"Newyork is amazing.I hope to visit again."

"Oh please do,there are so many lovely places I'd show you to."

Not wanting to interrupt,i waited for them to finish before i asked "Where's your sister?"

"They already left,they drove here."

"You all saw the same movie?"

"Yeah,it was crazy.I've been seeing the movie trailer online but i didn't know it was this good."

"I didn't think I'd get to a point where lisa would stalk her boyfriend.I know she's jealous but damn that girl is a crazy psycho."

"Well Noah deserved it though.How could he lead her on for 2 freaking years when he just wanted to get under her pants?"Erica commented

"You're so cruel Erica.Murdering him was such a terrible thing to do."Chase argued

"We're going home from here right?"Erica asked me

"That's if you want to."

"Yeah,I'm having a headache already."

"Oh sorry dear."

"I can take you girls home if you don't mind."Chase offered

We exited the cinema and started riding home after getting some pain killers from a nearby pharmacy store.

"So am i just going to take you girls to my apartment?"Chase broke the silence

I just realised i hadn't given him an address or a direction to my apartment.
"Arthur Avenue."

"Really?"

"Yep."I said popping the 'p'

"That's where i am my sister used to live before i moved out recently."

"She still stays there?"

"Yeah but she's rarely around."

"You really don't look alike."

"Yeah yeah,i hear that alot.She's my dad's replica and i look like my mom."

"Same as me.I look very much like my dad while my brother looks like my mom."

"Female children always look like their father and vice versa."Erica chimed in

When i realised we were in Arthur Avenue,i started directing him until we were in front of my apartment complex.
Immediately Chase turned off his car engine,Erica jumped out of the car.

"Thank you so much for the ride."I thanked him

"You're welcome.Please can i have your number so i can call you to hangout whenever you're free?"

"When next i run into you,I'd give you."

"Come on Karen,how sure are you?"

"I'm certain."

"Okay,if you insist."

"I insist."

"Just have it in mind that if after 3 days and i don't see you,I'm coming to your flat."

"But you don't know my flat."

"I'd knock on every flat till i get to yours."

I couldn't help but let out a loud laugh."you're funny."

"Don't try me."He warned

I got out of his car and winked at him.

"3 days Karen,just 3 days."

I'm gradually letting some new characters in.

Incase you're thinking Karen isn't a good friend because she didn't travel for Erica's grandma's funeral,just have it in mind that she's not.She is still trying to get settled as a young single mom and Erica travelled to Newyork because she needed change of environment.
