Chapter 24

I arrived Kentucky to seal a business deal with an Irish businessman Dad introduced me to.Everything was going fine and hopefully I was supposed to head back to New york  the following night against another business meeting with some investors that wanted to invest in my jewelry business but then I got a text from my Dad, asking me to go see my Aunt before leaving Kentucky.

My aunt's health was improving. She looked healthier than the last time I saw her and her doctor said she would be discharged in few weeks but should report twice in a week for a routine check up. I was leaving the hospital for my hotel when I bumped into someone so familiar. I had seen him just once but I was able to recognize him.

I apologized for bumping into him and I walked to my car.Sitting inside my car,a part of me didn't want to drive off just yet.The young man rushed into the hospital like he was being chased.

After sometime, he came out of the hospital building with a woman and that was when I confirmed he was really the one because that woman is Madison. If he's with Madison, that means they know each other and truly I've met him too but he might not recognize me because people grow and change everyday.

"Hey man,mind if I give you a lift?"I asked

"No,thanks." He moved two steps back which made me chuckle.

"You've been standing there for over 20 minutes now.The weather doesn't look too good and you seem to be in a haste."

"Are you stalking me?"

"Not exactly but I've watched you to see that you really need a ride."

He scoffed "No,thanks.I can manage."

"Stubbornness indeed runs in their blood." I said more to myself.

"I know you might not recognize me but I used to stay at library lane some years back.I know you from my neighborhood." I told him

He looked at me then shook his head no.

"Alright then suit yourself." I turned on my car engine.

"Uhmm wait." He scratched the back of his head."It's already drizzling, if you're heading towards library lane you can drop me please. "

I smirked. "Get in."

It was a silent ride.Neither of us said anything to each other till we got to library lane and he directed me to his house.I pulled into the drive way and turned off the car engine.
"Thanks man." He said with a low voice and got out of the car.

I stepped out of my car to close my trunk properly when I met her staring at me with her mouth agape "You?" She asked, but it came out like a statement than a question.

I never imagined facing her,not today or anytime soon.

"Hey." I said nonchalantly like nothing ever happened

"How dare you hey me?What the hell are you doing here?"

When I didn't answer, she turned to her brother. "Why's he here?"

"I don't know him.He just offered me a lift from the hospital."

"How generous of you." She said sarcastically "Now leave here this very minute."

"There's no need for that." I said to her as I headed towards my car.

"Damn it!" I hit the steering hard.

I should have known they were family but stupid me wanted to drop the young man. I caused this.

As I zoomed off,it then occurred to me that while I was there,there was a young boy with her.

Was she married? Or did she go around sleeping with every man who cared to have a taste of her cookie jar?

"Like I care." I scoffed.
