Ailani's P.O.V

"Well done. Your team has won."

Back at the training ground, our team wasn't particularly greeted with a warm welcome. Some of the losing teams eyed us enviously as we approached, angry murmurs of hate swirling in the air.

Our team smiled victoriously, and Christopher, who had led us out of the maze, bowed reverently at Adrian when he looked his way.

"But don't feel too proud. It is only a matter of time before the Mating Call begins, and it is nothing like what you've experienced. There are 10 packs that will be attending, 6 of which are allies towards us." Adrian said.

Jack sighed and nudged Lionel next to him. "At least we have an advantage."

Adrian's face didn't drop. For some reason I was more attracted to him in this serious state. "It so happens that our enemies outnumber us. The four packs that are not allied with us are far huger, so no, this is not going to be easy."

"On a scale of one to ten, how much do you think they have it in for us?" Maddie asked.

Adrian's face screwed slightly, slowly calculating the damage. After a five second pause, he replied. "On a scale of 1-100, 100."

**********

When we walked into the lobby, we stared strangely at the many suitcases that were perched in front of the reception desk. Yet there was no one to accompany them.

"Two of our allied packs are here, they are making themselves comfortable in their rooms as we speak." Adrian stated, walking in behind us.

Simultaneously, all of the werewolves in our group slowly and silently sniffed the air. I watched in awe and amusement as Lionel, Andre and a boy from one of the other groups ran upstairs with lightening speed, low growls erupting from their throats.

"Lucky bastards," Carlos murmured, turning on his heels.

Two extremely good looking men walked slowly, somewhat menacingly down the stairs. Their eyes were dark and dangerous, and growls were coming from their mouths, just like the others.

Maddie and Amanda had to push me out the way. "Try not to get in between a werewolf while he's finding his mate," they said.

I studied them carefully. Their shoulders were tense, and they moved with their heads held high, as if toughening their appearance for their companion. One small girl, with curly blonde hair saw one of them coming towards her, and to my surprise, she squealed and ran in the other direction.

I have never seen a man sprint after someone so fast in my entire life.

The other girl, a tall dark haired woman with a large tattoo of a butterfly baring her shoulder, ran towards her mate; sniffing his scent in with pleasure.

Amanda and Maddie looked disoriented and sad as they looked at the newly found couple. Adrian came up to the both of them, placing his hands on their shoulders. "You will find your mate in due time," he said. "Be patient and wait."

"How much longer can I sit here? You should know how it feels to have no mate, you've been waiting far more longer than I have." Maddie spat distastefully at him, turning away and heading for her hotel room.

Adrian shrieked back in horror for a short second, his jaw clenching to reveal a well defined jaw line. He looked hurt. Before he retreated back to the training ground he looked at me longingly, and then left.
