Marcus' P.O.V

"Are we all settled? Good. Then we shall begin."

I was in a boardroom full of all the most important members of the pack. Around the large mahogany desk, there were thirteen chairs. The first three were for the Beta (second in command), and the first two strongest soldiers that served our army. Five seats were filled by the elders of the pack, one seat was taken by me, who held responsibility of the pack territory. Three more seats were taken by the leaders of the treasury - those who dealt with the pack's money. And the last seat, was for the Alpha.

His name was Adrian, and at the age of 21 he was already taking full responsibility of the pack, as its only official leader. He stood tall just like his father, his strength was becoming more and more visible each day, not just physically, but mentally as well. He was well educated, wise, and hard-working - just like his father said he would be. Adrian was very serious though, sometimes too serious for a man of such a young age. But still, there were odd times when he would crack a small smile or laugh with his friends; when that happened, I could still see a hint of his older brother in his face...

"Marcus?" Adrian stood hovering over his seat at the head of the table. His blue tailored suit clinging to his muscles dominantly.

"Yes Alpha," I replied.

"How is everything going at the pack house? Is it all running smoothly like I asked?" The men at the table looked at me for a positive response. Normally, if you came to the Alpha with a response he didn't expect, you were taken outside the boardroom by his Beta... That was never a good sign.

"Yes. The visitors have arrived safely and are settled within their rooms." I swallowed the lump of nervousness down my throat, failing to mention something that was EXTREMELY important to bring up.

"And you are sure they are safe werewolves, and not rogues?" Once again, all eyes shifted on me as Adrian asked me another question. As a 36 year old man, I was beyond intimidated by Adrian's presence.

"Yes Alpha. They are safe. I'm sure of it."

Adrian nodded calmly, and breathed a small sigh of relief before taking a seat. I on the other hand, was slightly having a mini panic attack.

They were not safe. Not safe at all. I could tell by the way they behaved and responded to my gestures that they were dangerous people. Far more dangerous than rogues.

They were human.

For some reason I wasn't able to tell by sniffing the air, because for some reason they gave off no peculiar scent that made me suspect they were not of our kind. It was the way they acted around me and their surroundings; as if they were tourists and had never heard of the hotel before. Every werewolf knows of our pack. Even if you weren't in a pack yourself, but a lone wolf, you still knew of our whereabouts. These people didn't, and that could have only meant one thing.

I should have told Alpha Adrian about my suspicions, but there was something inside me that was yelling at me to keep my mouth shut about it. I hadn't seen a human in nearly 16 years, but there was no threat that the family proposed to me at all.

In fact, they seemed rather friendly...

Adrian was about to mention the important notices of the meeting, but before he did he turned his head towards me again.

"You made sure that they kept within the boundaries of the left wing, am I correct?" He said.

I nodded my head in agreement, and managed to stifle out a 'yes Alpha.' I was relieved when he turned his attention away from me for the last time.

"So," he began. "So far so good. Training is going on at this very moment, and after this meeting I want you all to go and join them." He gestured to his Beta, Samson, and the two elite soldiers of the army, Christopher and Alejandro. They nodded their heads in obedience.

"Next month a very important visitor will be attending our pack territory with some news. You must all make sure everything is up to standards from now on, so that we make a good first impression on him and his colleagues."

Tension swirled its way into the atmosphere. My back tensed, as well as the two men sitting next to me. The elders sitting across the table frowned slightly, creating more and more wrinkles in their foreheads.

"Alpha," Samson said. There was a hint of reluctance in his voice as he asked the question we were all thinking. "Who exactly is coming to meet us?"
Adrian's jaw tightened slightly, and his eyes scanned the room over.

"Sebastian. Alpha of the Blue Moon pack."

The elders gasped with a shaky breath. Sebastian was known for his violent attacks on rogues and humans, his bully-like demeanour; and his scar that ran from his forehead to the bottom of his lip. He was a warrior, but one you didn't want to fight against. Last time Sebastian was here, a massive fight broke out between his pack and ours; since then he hasn't stepped on our territory for nearly 6 years.

"I know what it sounds like," Adrian said. "But there's something important him and I need to discuss."

Nothing else was said about the matter. You didn't question the Alpha.

The meeting was just about to close off, when a buzzing sound erupted from the front of the boardroom, where all the controls and security cameras were kept. We were about 5 miles away from the pack house, so we had cctv cameras implanted in the building so that we could see if any trouble brewed when we were away.

"Marcus," Adrian spoke, his voice sending shivers down my spine. "You said everything was alright at the pack house didn't you?"

The lump I had swallowed before found its way back up to my throat. You weren't supposed to lie to your Alpha. But then again, I hadn't necessarily told a lie...Everything was fine when I left.

I watched as Adrian picked up a small remote, clicked a button, and tensed all over. A video was transformed from the small screen he was staring at, to the large screen that hung on the wall by the door.

I froze as I stared at a live clip that showed three teenagers picking up books in the pack library. Ancient texts, modern texts, piled on top of one another on the floor. Adrian glared at me as soon as the girl with the dark hair started waving at the camera.
