Adrian's P.O.V

"Control your wolf brother, Ivan wants you to act irrational." Solomon was beside me, his wolf mind-linking me to avoid doing anything I would regret.

"My soldiers were supposed to kill you on sight." Ivan stopped at a distance and spoke to break away the silence.

"Your soldiers obviously don't like following orders." I said, my voice leaking with power.

"Or they're just shit," Ivan admitted, shaking his head in disappointment. "But you don't like following orders yourself, now do you Adrian?"

Ivan took a step forward, and I returned the action.

"I'm afraid I don't follow you?"

The smirk on Ivan's face was not subtle at all. "You were given orders, in fact, all werewolves are given orders - that if they see a human on their territory then they are to kill on sight. Humans are the enemy, but it seems like you and your friends..." Ivan gestures to Catalina and Solomon behind me, "have forgotten."

"Not all humans have bad intentions," I said, thinking of Ailani, and how my wolf purred at the thought of her.

Ivan scoffed. "You really are a traitor. Pack orders say tha-."

"Pack orders are useless. We think that they're there to protect us, but all they do is restrict our strength. If we are able to live peaceful alongside humans, make alliances with them, then we will be stronger."

Saying my reasoning aloud only made me more certain that what I was saying was true. Meeting Ailani and her friends made me think that there was a possibility that someday we could coexist. Bedsides, who wouldn't want to be friends with a werewolf?

"Adrian. Humans are greedy for power."

Solomon chuckled. "You might as well be a human then, you greedy prick."

"All they want is to be on top of the food chain, and to stay there. As soon as they find out that us werewolves exist; and that we are stronger than them - they will declare war and kill us all."

Ivan ignores Solomon's comment and went on to explain why humans were bad people. The more he babbled on, the more my wolf was beginning to grow impatient.

"Enough!" I growled, silencing Ivan's nonsense talk. "You poisoned the whole of my pack, all because you desire more power."

"Believe me brother, I came to your Mating Call with good intentions, although I am not your ally, I am not your enemy." Ivan began.

Solomon and I scoffed at the same time.

"But when I found out that you were accommodating humans, humans on wolf territory... I realised that you are not fit for your title. A wolf that protects humans rather than his own is not worthy to be called the strongest Alpha alive."

I stepped forward menacingly and growled.

"As long as them humans are on this land, as long as they are alive, I will not stop until I have you, and your little army of friends killed."

My wolf made me take another step. I felt my teeth grow to their full length, my claws exposed.

"And after you and your friends are dead, I will take over your pack, stealing your title - the title your father never deserved, and rule like a true Alpha should."

Solomon tried to reign my wolf in, but it was too late. By the time Ivan had finished his sentence I was already on top of him, claws at the ready.

"Don't you dare talk about my father," I snarled, teeth bared, ready to take the pound of flesh my wolf was hungry for.

Ivan's smirk never left his smug face. A nasty stabbing pain paralysed my body as his claws scratched the back of my neck. I cried out in anger rather than pain, and clawed the left side of his cheek, the gash pouring out blood.

I heard movement behind me, and then Solomon's voice talking to Catalina, "Do not intervene with two Alpha's fighting. This is their fight, not ours."

Ailani's P.O.V

"Ailani, I was given strict orders to stop you from leaving this room..." Katie was trying to stop me from opening the door and walking out. She stood in front of me, arms folded, with a determined look etched across her face.

"Katie, I'm not going to argue with you. You need to let me out; someone is in danger."

"Who's in danger?"

I paused and tried to think. "I don't know, but if it's Adrian, then I'm not staying in here and doing nothing. Let me out!"

"No. Sit back down and play the game with me."

"Katie..."

"Ailani..."

"Kat-." A stabbing pain erupted from my neck to the whole of my spine; bad enough to elicit a cry of pain but not enough to make me listen to Katie's orders.

"Are you oka-."

"Move."

I didn't intend to growl.

"Ailani... your eyes..."

"What about them?" I snapped.

Katie gulped and shook her head, moving aside for me to open the door. "Never mind. If you're leaving, I'm coming with you." She said hesitantly.

"Fine by me." And I left with Katie following close behind.

Adrian's P.O.V

"You delusional bastard, that girl is not your mate. She is human." Ivan could barely get his words out, my hand gripped around his neck tightly, his back high up against the wall.

"The girl and her friends are none of your concern."

Ivan's face was growing red, his efforts to catch his breath weren't helpful. I nearly had him, but when a growl pierced through the air, my attention was divided.

Ailani stood a few feet away, her eyes glowing silver. She looked at me, a baleful look plastered at the man I had in my hands.

Katie came running to Solomon, Catalina and Jack, her face just as confused as ours.

My grip must have loosened on Ivan, because he had the strength to head-but me in my nose, a crack and a gush of blood.

I tripped over my own foot and fell on the wall behind me; Ivan took the chance to run towards Ailani, removing a dagger from his pocket.

As strong and as quick as she was, Ailani was no match for Ivan, and before she could stop it, Ivan stood behind her, the blade pressed close to her throat.

My wolf growled in disagreement. "If you hurt her..."

"What? What are you gonna do?" Ivan's mouth was soaked in blood, his eyes glowering like a predator ready to kill prey.

Solomon and Catalina growled and stepped forward, getting ready to attack if needed.

"Tell your army to stand down," he pressed the knife closer to her skin, and I growled in horror as I smelt fresh blood.

"Obviously your little human, isn't what I thought she'd be. Either she comes with me, or I murder her right in front of you."

"You wouldn't dare." I stood on my feet, glaring at him with glowing eyes. My wolf whimpered at the terror in Ailani's eyes.

"Let her go, what do you want? Money?"

Ivan scoffed. "You know full well werewolves don't need money. I'm not negotiating Alpha, the girl comes with me, or she dies."

"It's okay, Adrian." Ailani spoke up; nodding her head slightly.

"There you go, the human has some sense in her." Ivan began slowly walking backwards, the knife still pressed tightly to her neck. "If anyone follows us, she's dead."

The elevator opened up behind him, and they stepped in. I kept my eyes on Ailani, silently letting her know that I wouldn't stop until she was back in my arms.
