Adrian's P.O.V
"Mine."
We didn't really give each other time to breathe. We must've held each other for the first ten minutes before either of us started pulling away. Holding her close made my wolf purr in delight, and so I was sure that I was making no mistake by claiming her as my mate. Her face seemed to reflect mine – weak, exhausted and yet relieved. Was she possibly feeling the same way as me?
"Ailani," I coughed, all of a sudden looking stupid and shy. "I didn't mean to do that, I just..."
"It's okay. I think we both kind of needed that." Ailani looked at me with a longing expression on her face, when she caught me staring she dipped her head down to the floor to escape my gaze. I watched her intently as she stared at her feet, taking in all of her beautiful features. Her rosy cheeks, her glowing caramel skin and the way that her dark hair fell gracefully past her shoulders. She was in every way amazing, and although she was younger than me, I was in love. More than in love.
"You're my mate aren't you?" All of a sudden she spoke, eyes glazing over mine in search for an answer.
"I think so." I began. "No I'm sure of it. All I've been thinking about is you, it's you that makes my wolf go crazy, how can you not be?"
"What if this is a mistake, what if we've been reading the signs wrong?" She questioned, eyes watering up at the thought of it.
My chest tightened as she looked down to the floor again. I took the chance to wrap my hands around her waist, careful not to scare her away from me.
When she looked up into my eyes, my wolf didn't purr, he growled viciously, as if to say danger.
I stepped back for a second, tuning in on my wolf's voice. I could only hear growling, and the desperate need to either escape or fight. My heart beat quickened with the fear of someone being in this room with us, someone with an ill intent.
"Is something wrong? You're scaring me." Ailani rushed towards me and placed both her hands on my chest. The growling grew louder, but I couldn't bring myself to step away from her again. So when she wrapped her hands around my neck to calm me down, I didn't hesitate to kiss her lips eagerly, and was not reluctant to wrap my hands around the small of her waist as I did so.
Our lips moved in perfect harmony, our bodies pushing against each other with a desperate need to gain some kind of friction. I ignored the stabbing feeling in my chest, the feeling of my wolf crying, begging for me to stop. Whatever danger was near us could wait; besides, if they hadn't acted out now, then they probably weren't going to anytime soon.
A suffocating moan erupted from deep within her chest, causing a agonising pain of pleasure deep within my groin. The longer our kiss lasted, the louder my wolf would whimper, and the stronger the stabbing pain in my chest felt. When her tongue found its way between the boundaries of my lips, my wolf howled, and in the split of a second, my teeth were bared, claws exposed.
I couldn't ignore the torment swirling inside of me. Before I even knew what I was doing, my teeth had sunk down deep within the sweet flesh of her neck, eliciting a sweet scream from Ailani's mouth.
When the first drop of blood hit my tongue, my wolf was clawing to be free. DANGER! DANGER! He howled non-stop, to a point of where I could no longer suppress his anger. Her blood was unnatural and alien. Her blood did not mask the scent of a she-wolf, not even a rogue. Her blood was warm, but the taste of it sent a chilling sensation down my spine.
I had no idea what was going on. The taste of her felt good, but at the same time something far more greater was whispering in my ear that it was bad. The exciting sensation I felt before had sizzled out, and in its place a foreboding feeling of outrage filled my veins. I stepped back and watched her body fall to the floor. Somehow she was still conscious, hands holding the nasty wound on the left side of her neck, eyes looking up to me with fear and confusion.
When I saw her, it was as if she was nothing like the girl I had met – the girl I had been obsessing over. It was like looking at a ghost, or a shell of something that once was real and perfect. Her hair cascaded down her shoulders as she looked to the ground, pulling herself up off the floor, and then unwillingly falling back down again.
"What are you?" The words I spoke were full of an anger I hardly ever showed. The anger that came with heresy and treason. "You're too weak to be a werewolf – even with no powers you should still be stronger."
She uttered no words, but instead cried out in pain at the wound that was now beginning to bleed out.
"ANSWER ME!" I spat! Her body jerked at the sound of my voice, but I felt no sympathy.
Just as I was about to grab her by the neck, my bedroom door slammed open – and her best friend Jack, along with my brother and Catalina, stormed into the bedroom and slammed me against the wall.
