Chapter 49 : Last chance

As he was going to catch Charlie up – Owen heard Wu scream and the helicopter flying away. He knew there was now only one thing to do – run. « OK. EVERYBODY RUN !! » he shouted.

Scared by the Blackhawk rotor – Charlie began to chase the group. Maisie then started a hologram she randomly chose to distract Charlie. Charlie then saw the hologram of a young dilophosaurus. The raptor immediately stopped seeing the animal and pounced towards it only to realize it was a fake dinosaur.

This gave time to the group to make it's escape via the main door. « To the nearest evac point now ! » Owen said. But Golf and Foxtrot came out of nowhere – preventing the six humans from running away. They got linked up by Charlie – who gave up confronting the fake animal.

The dinosaurs were still angered due to the smoke grenades and Owen knew that releasing them would only cause more problems than it could solve. Owen – knowing how to regain their trust – saw Foxtrot trying to get rid of her camera. He gave Gray to his sister and put his rifle on the ground before slowly approaching the raptor. « Easy girl. Easy » he whispered. While removing the camera – Owen was however scared because he knew he almost got eaten by the raptors while saving the young boy's life.

Fortunately – Foxtrot didn't attack. Neither did the two other raptors. Everybody was relieved – but Gray was a little confused and even coughed. However – the relief was only temporary as two torvosauruses wer showing up themselves quickly facing the three raptors and the six humans.

But the raptors were now ready to attack the torvosauruses and Maisie whistled loudly – which meant to the raptors they were allowed to attack. The three dinosaurs then viciously charged the two torvosauruses – pouncing upon them and clawing them. The two big theropods tried to get rid of their aggressors.

Claire – Owen and the four children used this deception to run for their life. But shortly after running by a Starbucks Coffee – Claire lost her balance and fell. The others only turned back after running past a Pandora shop. As Claire was going to stand up – she saw the fourth and youngest Torvosaurus revealing itself – prompting her to flee in the other direction. The others then hid behind the fake amber decoration before Gray saw her running. « Aunt Claire !!!!!!!!! » he yelled.

The fight between the raptors and the torvosauruses then another turn. The third torvosaurus grabbed Charlie and threw her against a tree – breaking her spine and killing her instantly. The fourth one grabbed Golf and threw her in the grill of a restaurant – causing her to be roasted alive.

Foxtrot then got hurled on the ground and a torvosaurus proceaded to tear her head off and eat her.

Owen and the children then ran away before being chased by the three angry torvosauruses. Everyone then hid in a small souvenir shop. But the dinosaurs attempted to reach for the five humans.

Meanwhile – Claire hid in a Starbucks shop – hoping the torvosaurus lost her sight. Se ventured in the shop only to be surprised by the dinosaur putting its head in the shop – promting her to flee to the counter.

Then a loud roar was heard. It was the adult T-rex. Indeed since Hoskins and Hamada tranquilized her – the effects of the carfentanil disapeared as sun was now rising. She then decided to get back to her home place. This gave Claire an idea. She knew that all the shops had an emergency kit containing flares. She reached for the said pack and retrieved a flare. She then exited the shop by the staff door.

Passing through the alleys – she reached the T-Rex enclosure without being spotted and lit her torch before waving it before the T-rex as she saw the animal sleeping in the parking lot. The tyrannosaurus roared seeing the torch and Claire began to run.

The dinosaur than chased Claire and her torch. Once she arrived in Main Street – she threw the object upon the torvosauruses attacking the souvenir shop before stepping aside. The T-rex then showed up herself breaking apart the spinosaurus skeleton on display here.

The torvosaurus which was hit by the torch turned around only to see the big t-rex roaring. The others heard it and turned around. The four torvosauruses roared as the t-rex did. Rex approached and roared even louder. Owen and the four children ran away from the shop and linked up with Claire.

The t-rex then bit a torvosaurus but the three others retaliated by biting Rex and caused her to lose her balance. The four torvosauruses then proceded to bite the t-rex.

As the six humans were now fleeing they saw a green dinosaur scrambling straight towards the torvosauruses. It was the youngest t-rex coming to help her adoptive mother.

The young dinosaur grabbed a torvosaurus and dragged it – destroying several buildings and trees as well as paper kiosks.

The protagonists then used the situation to their advantage to get to the nearest evacuation point. The biggest t-rex managed to stand up and bit a torvosaurus neck and swung the dinosaur around – killing it and causing another one to be stuck under the dead one.

The big female then pounded the last torvosaurus and pushed it to the lagoon where it fell. This eventually hearded the tylosauruses – which began to eat her. In the meantime – the young t-rex managed to kill the torvosaurus she was preying. The stuck dinosaur managed to get away from underneath of the body but soon got caught by the adult t-rex – which proceeded to snap its neck. The two t-rexes then victoriously roared.

While fleeing – Owen – Claire and the children could hear the dinosaurs roaring. « What is that ? » Gray moaned. « It's a victory sound, Owen said. But let's get going – we mustn't stay here ! ». The group then proceded to get to the nearest evacuation point. It was now dawn and we could see the first sunlight beams.
