Chapter 39 : Boats

Claire – Owen and Maisie accompanied by Hill and Rollins were following the track left by Emma – Gray and Maddy to the Cretaceous River. They all appeared at the top of the hill near the lake where the children had jumped. Then Emma saw them. « It's Aunt Claire ! ». Everybody heard him and rushed to the window to motion them to come and rescue them. Emma and several visitors then rushed towards the five persons who linked up with them. « Did you come to save us ? » a visitor asked. « Basically it was for the kids but now yes we will. » Rollins answered. « Where's Gray ? », « He's sick. Maddy is tending to him. », « Sick ? » Claire suspiciously asked.

The rescue party then entered the restaurant where Emma and other visitors lead them. Gray was lying in a sofa and Maddy was tending to him using her lap as a makeshift pillow. « Aunt Claire. I don't feel well. » he said. Then Claire put her hand on Gray's forehead. « You have a fever. », « We gave him a pill of aspirine. », « You did well. », « And the girl's tending to him for a while. ». Then Emmalin – Hill – Rollins – Maisie and Owen approached Claire – Gray and Owen. « Did you got attacked by four horned carnivores named Torvosaurus ? », « Yes. », « Then the little boy is sick because of the DX. », « Has anyone of you got infected ? », « Yes we all have. », « I'll call the LT and inform him about the soon-to-be quarantined tourists. », « What happened for the quarantine ? », « Jurassic World got hacked and the sick torvosauruses escaped. Hence the quarantine. ».

« We now gotta go back to Jurassic World City. From there – we'll go to a quarantined evac area. », « How are we gonna get back to Jurassic World ? », « By the river. Because I just saw the boat shed nearby. ».

About thirty minutes later – everyone had donned a blue lifejacket and prepared a blue canoe for the trip on the river. Then Hill – Rollins – Maisie – Owen and Claire set a yellow inflate raft to put Gray in prone position and allow Maddy to heal him.

But as they were preparing the raft – they heard loud footsteps. Owen and Maisie understood what was coming. They then whisperred a 'Shhhh' to the visitors before watching the T-Rex lying on the ground and sleeping. The group then manually inflated the raft not to wake the animal up. They then released the straps and pulled the red grip. Fortunately the T-Rex wasn't interested in eating humans yet. Once the raft was fully inflated everyone sighted with relief.

Everyone then boarded the boat and they put Gray into it before Maddy boarded it too. Fortunately the dinosaur was still sleeping. Owen motioned to everyone to move silently. The whole group had covertly move to the middle of the lake until Gray coughed. The carnivore woke up and started to run towards the river. « Move faster ! The rex can swim ! » Owen shouted to everyone.

Everyone obeyed to the middle of the lake – betting the depth would be afraid of drowning. And it worked. After a while the T-Rex turned around after managing to hit Owen's group's raft. Everyone was wet but fine.

Rollins then started to say everyone some safety measures. « OK everyone. Stay sharp. We're gonna go white water rafting 65 million years ago. » she said. The boats then started to go down the Cretaceous River.
